Mountain Rose is a very beautiful succulent plant, just like its name suggests, a rose-like plant that grows in the mountains. Many families choose to grow it because of its unique appearance, so let us get to know it together.

The family and genus of Mountain Rose

Mountain Rose, Crassulaceae, Aeonium. It was originally an independent genus, Greenovia, and was later merged into the genus Aeonium.

The aliases of Mountain Rose

Mountain Rose is also called Alpine Rose and Mountain Rose.

The distribution range of Mountain Rose

Mountain Rose is mostly distributed in the Canary Islands and nearby islands such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife, El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma, in rock crevices in the coniferous forest zone on north-facing slopes at an altitude of 1000-1900m.

Mountain Rose is also distributed on the southern high island of Tenerife, on the north slope at an altitude of 950m, as well as in the coniferous forests at about 650m altitude on the north side of La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera.

The morphological characteristics of Mountain Rose

The fleshy leaves of Mountain Rose are alternate and arranged in a rosette. The size of the plant varies by variety, ranging from 2 cm to 40 cm.

The leaf color of Mountain Rose varies, including gray-green, blue-green or emerald green. During the dormant period, to avoid strong light, the outer leaves wither and the central leaves wrap up, with a shape resembling a rose bud about to bloom, which attracts attention.

The flowering period of Mountain Rose is from early spring to early summer, with a raceme inflorescence and yellow flowers. A special point is that after flowering and the seeds mature, the mother plant gradually withers, while new shoots grow from the base.
