Winter jasmine originates from northwestern China in Shaanxi, Gansu and Sichuan, and from southeastern Tibet. Today it is widely cultivated around the world at altitudes of about 800-2000 m.

The flowers of winter jasmine mostly grow in the leaf axils of small branches, with a few at the tips of small branches. The flower bracts are small leaf-like, lanceolate, elliptic or ovate, and the corolla is usually yellow, opening before the leaves appear; the flowering period is generally from February to April each year.

Winter jasmine carries the beautiful meaning of "loving each other forever", and also symbolizes "tenacious vitality".
