Daisies prefer cool conditions and dislike heat, with an ideal germination temperature of 22-28°C. This article introduces daisy growth habits, variety selection and cut flower vase care techniques, including trimming roots and changing water, misting to retain moisture and other tips, helping your daisies bloom for over three weeks.

Daisies are a favorite flower for many gardening enthusiasts, blooming in a lively and lovely little cluster. However, to grow daisies well, or to make the daisies you bring home last longer, you still need to master some know-how. Below, let's go through the key points of daisy care.

First, get to know the "temperament" of daisies

Daisies prefer cool climates and dread heat most of all. They like light and can also tolerate partial shade, and their requirements for growing soil are not strict, so overall they are fairly easy to care for. In terms of temperature, remember two key figures: the ideal seed germination temperature is 22-28°C, and the ideal growing temperature is 20-25°C. Within this temperature range, daisies grow best.

Variety selection also matters. The southwestern region is more suitable for growing medium and small single-petaled or semi-double varieties; while medium and large double-petaled varieties grow weakly there and produce poor seeds, so keep this in mind when buying seeds.

Cut Daisy Vase Care Techniques

After receiving a bouquet of daisies, don't rush to put them straight into a vase. First tidy up the bouquet, remove the lower leaves, then according to the height of the vase, cut the stems diagonally at 45° above the base, and place them in water. The flower heads should be 10-15 cm above the top of the vase; this height looks relaxed and allows smooth water uptake.

As for water volume, filling the vase to one third is enough; there is no need to fill it too full. Be sure to change the water frequently, at least once every 2 days, trimming the stems each time. To do even better, you can wash the vase with 84 disinfectant each time you change the water, thoroughly eliminating bacteria clinging to the walls of the vase -- don't underestimate these bacteria, they make fresh flowers fade faster.

Placement is also crucial: avoid direct sunlight, and do not place them near air conditioning vents or in windy spots. Air conditioning cannot produce a "warm or cool" effect for the flowers, and wind can easily cause fresh flowers to dehydrate and wither.

Don't Overlook These Precautions

In spring and autumn, the climate is dry and the flower heads dehydrate easily. You can mist the flower heads appropriately every morning and evening to retain moisture.

Because household humidity varies, daisy leaves may develop varying degrees of dry edges. Just remove the dried leaves; it will not affect the blooming or the flowering period.

In addition, daisies have many flower heads, and during transport a small number of flower heads may break off. This is normal loss; simply remove them yourself, and it will not affect the normal growth and blooming of the other flowers.

As long as you care for them carefully according to the methods above, daisies have a long flowering period and can keep blooming for 3 weeks without a problem. Hurry and put these tips to use!
