Phalaenopsis repotting tips and suitable light intensity after repotting
To grow plants well, besides daily watering, fertilizing, temperature control, and avoiding harsh sunlight, repotting is actually also a key point. I believe that for beginners, repotting is an unfamiliar term, and how to do it correctly? This inevitably seems like a distant matter. Follow along with the editor below to learn some repotting tips.

It is rare to buy a pot of your favorite Phalaenopsis, and the next year you want it to continue blooming, but situations such as root rot and yellow leaves appear. At this time, the most common advice is to "repot." So how do you repot it?

First, when repotting, loosen the sphagnum moss first (soak it in advance), and spread it out flat to about 2 cm thick. Take the selected seedling out of the original pot, remove the leaves that have already turned yellow, and then straighten out the roots. Hold the root area with your left hand, spread the fingers of your right hand flat, grab a handful of sphagnum moss and wrap it once around the roots, making sure all the roots are evenly covered and no roots are left exposed. Then put it into the prepared 12 cm nutrient cup and press gently and firmly.

How do you judge whether the tightness of the sphagnum moss is appropriate? The quickest way is to pinch the soft nutrient cup with your hand; if you feel obvious elasticity, then it is just right. If it feels too loose, this means the medium was spread too thinly and you need to continue adding more. If it does not feel firm either, it proves that too much medium was used and it needs to be reduced. This is because the tightness of the sphagnum moss is especially important, as it is related to the absorption of watering and fertilizing. If you want to grow high-standard Phalaenopsis, this step must be done well.

Then, for the seedlings that have been repotted, they all need to face the flower buds south, and the direction must remain consistent. In this way, when the flowers open, the form will be more neat and uniform. Furthermore, they can also be separated by variety and placed neatly on the seedling bed, because plants of the same variety usually have similar habits, and there will not be too much deviation in watering.

Finally, the first week after repotting is very critical. On sunny days, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day, the leaves need to be sprayed with water once or twice to keep the sphagnum moss in the pot moist. Also, if the light is strong, the shade net should be opened, and the light should be controlled at 3000 to 4000 lux, the temperature should be kept at 20 to 25°C, and the air humidity should be 70% to 80%. If it is cloudy, there is no need to spray water.
