Are fragrant camellias suitable for indoor growing? An introduction to camellia hybrid varieties
As is well known, we produce quite a few famous flowers, including globally renowned traditional flowers such as camellias and peonies. Because of their superior ornamental value, they were later introduced to many countries, and many hybrid varieties subsequently appeared. Among them, let us introduce what new-style varieties of camellias modern people have bred.

Xiang Taiyang
It is also known as Wuse fragrant camellia. It is a variety hybridized in the United States. The flower as a whole is white in tone, and the petal edges have scattered pink, red, yellow and other stripes or patches. Each flower looks distinctive, and it is also one of the few large double-flowered types. After opening, dense golden stamens are revealed in the bud, and it also carries a fruity fragrance that smells refreshing.

In terms of care, Xiang Taiyang, like standard camellias, prefers loose, fertile, well-drained and airy, slightly acidic soil rich in humus. When mixing soil, try to avoid using only pure garden soil, because it has poor air permeability and can easily suffocate the roots later. It is recommended to use leaf mold, pine needle soil, and granular soil such as vermiculite and perlite as the main soil.
Xiangfei
Xiangfei is a variety hybridized in New Zealand. Its flower name is also called Liexiang Chahu or Qianlixiang, and it counts as a relatively famous new-style variety in China. In appearance, it is rather petite overall. After maturity, the plant height is only about 1 m, making it very suitable for balcony growing. After blooming, the fragrance is rich; as soon as you enter the door, you can smell its scent.

In terms of care, its vitality and resistance are relatively stronger than standard camellias, and there is not much to pay attention to in maintenance; it can grow well with ordinary care.

Kermoy Peony
It is also a variety hybridized in the United States and is very popular locally, because its flower color is a rare bright red, and the flowers are huge. The length when fully open is as exaggerated as 13 cm. After the petals stack together, it resembles the "Lion Head" camellia of Yunnan, China. Its overall ornamental value is relatively strong, and its fragrance is rich.

In terms of care, after mutation, its shade tolerance has improved somewhat. In daily maintenance, just place it in semi-shade such as a north balcony or north windowsill.
