How to Grow Lychee Seeds So They Sprout and Bloom? A Detailed Guide to the Hydroponic Method
Today I am sharing with you a foolproof, step-by-step guide to turning lychee seeds into green plants, covering the whole process from soaking to a bursting pot, so even beginners can easilyget

Seed selection and soaking:
Not every lychee seed will sprout! Give priority to varieties with large seeds and hard, plump shells, such as Lizhiwang and Baitangying, which are very suitable - those that are shriveled or have wormholes should be discarded right away (freshly picked lychee seeds have higher viability).

Key steps for soaking in water
1.Prepare a clean container and fully submerge the lychee seeds in clean water.
2Change the water every day!! This step is super important! If you do not change the water, bacteria will breed and cause the seeds to rot and smell.
3.Watch the state of the seeds: when you see the shell crack open naturally, take them out immediately! The soaking time is generally3-7days, but do not ever over-soak! Too long a time will make the radicle rot in the water, and all your previous effort will be wasted

Sprouting with damp paper towels:
1.Take a clean paper towel, spray it until it is slightly moist but not dripping, lay the soaked lychee seeds flat in the middle of the paper towel, then cover with another equally moist paper towel.
2.Wrap the paper towel tightly with plastic wrap, poke a few small holes for ventilation, and place it in a warm spot at18-28℃
Important: do be sure to avoid direct sunlight; high temperatures will directly“scorch”the seeds; open the plastic wrap every day to observe, spray water as needed to keep it moist, and after3-5days you will see little white, tender sprouts poking out.

Water culture and soil culture:
Water culture method
When the radicle grows to1-2cm, prepare a transparent container, fill it with clean water, put the roots of the lychee seeds into the water with the water surface just covering the roots. Wrap the container with a black plastic bag or black cloth (the roots must be kept away from light!), change the water every2-3days, and quietly wait for the green leaves to push through the soil.

Soil culture method
A loose, airy nutrient soil is recommended (you can add vermiculite and perlite to increase airiness); place the sprouted lychee seeds with1/4exposed above the soil surface, water thoroughly, and place in a cool, ventilated spot. In the early stage of soil culture you must keep it away from light!! This is the key to keeping the leaves pink and tender - after2-3true leaves appear, gradually move it to a spot with bright, indirect light for care.

Pitfall-avoidance guide:
Soaking too long: rather soak less1day than soak too much! Once it cracks, immediately move on to the sprouting stage.
Paper towel too wet during sprouting: check the moisture every day, and if water droplets start dripping down, change the paper right away.
Lighting misconceptions: keep away from light during the sprouting stage! Strong light will directly wither the tender sprouts.
