Having bought such an expensive flower, the top priority is to grow it well, otherwise the money is wasted. And the most common problems when growing orchids are bud drop, shriveled leaves, stunted growth, and so on.  If you are also facing the problems mentioned above, then let's take a look together at how to solve them.

First of all, it is very normal for problems to arise when caring for orchids. Everyone must not rush to throw them away just because they see dropped buds or wrinkled leaves, because as long as the temperature problem is solved afterward, the flowers can come back to full health.

This is actually similar to a human catching a cold: as long as the temperature is too high or too low, problems appear. And the most comfortable temperature for orchids is 15 to 28 degrees Celsius. It is also best that the nighttime temperature is not too low, kept above 10 degrees Celsius as much as possible. Never place the flowerpot directly in front of an air conditioner vent or next to a heater, because the strong blowing will put the plant through the temperature extremes of ice and fire, so of course it will get sick! If the air conditioner is on at home, it is best to move the plant half a meter away from the air conditioner; if heating with a radiator, place a partition between the flowerpot and the radiator to buffer the heat.

In extreme weather, you also need to find a transparent plastic bag to cover the flowerpot, then poke a few ventilation holes, just like wrapping the plant in a little cotton quilt. This keeps it warm without smothering it. If you run into hot weather, take a few ice cubes out of the refrigerator, put them on a tray, and then set the flowerpot on top, or place a wet towel under the bottom of the pot, using water evaporation to take away heat. Remember to check frequently whether the towel is dry or wet, and replenish water in time.

Finally, there are also pests and diseases. Orchids usually attract small bugs such as red spider mites, scale insects, and aphids. Once these pests settle in, they will target the buds, gnaw and damage them, and the buds simply cannot grow normally. In short, to grow Phalaenopsis well, besides adjusting the temperature properly and dealing with pests and diseases, you also need to create a warm, ventilated home with enough light for it.
