Is the Phalaenopsis 'Golden Edge Cranberry' easy to grow, and does it have a long blooming period?
Today I want to introduce you to one of this year's most worthwhile hidden-gem flowers to get your hands on: the Phalaenopsis Golden-Edged Cranberry.

Phalaenopsis Golden-Edged Cranberry is a small-flowered type; its petals are a rich wine red, washed over with a playful leopard-print pink edge on the base, instantly maxing out the sense of luxury! The leaves come with their own gilded border, gleaming gold in the sunlight, instantly elevating the style of any home. You get both flowers and foliage, and wherever you place it, it becomes the focal point.

Golden-Edged Cranberry's blooming period is also super generous. Under normal care, a single flower can stay open for 2 - 3months, and the whole plant can bloom for as long as 4 - 6months. With proper care, it can even rebloom several times a year.

Many flower lovers worry that niche varieties are hard to care for, but with just a few small tips, the Golden-Edged Cranberry Phalaenopsis can bloom year after year.

Light: Golden-Edged Cranberry does not like strong direct light; just place it somewhere with plenty of bright, indirect light, such as by a living room window or on the inner side of a balcony. Providing 4 - 6hours of light a day is enough to meet its growth needs. When the summer sun is too strong, be sure to draw a sheer curtain for shade, or the leaves can easily get sunburned; in winter, you can let it bask in a bit more sun to promote flower bud differentiation.

Watering: Golden-Edged Cranberry has fleshy roots and fears waterlogging and root rot above all, so water according to the "water when dry, dry then wet" principle. In summer, when temperatures are high and water evaporates quickly, water roughly every 3 - 4days. Water in the morning or evening, avoiding the midday heat. In other seasons, water every 7 - 10days, adjusting flexibly according to the ambient humidity. If the air is dry, you can mist around the plant to increase humidity, but do not spray water onto the flowers and leaves, as they rot easily.

Temperature: The most suitable temperature for Golden-Edged Cranberry to grow is 15 - 28°C; it has poor cold tolerance, so when winter temperatures drop below 10°C you should move it indoors to keep it warm right away, or it can easily get frostbitten. In summer, when it exceeds 30°C, increase ventilation; placing it in an air-conditioned room is fine too, but do not let it face the air outlet directly.
Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply fertilizer once every 10 - 15days to promote stem and leaf growth; before the blooming period, increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, such as monopotassium phosphate, diluted and then used to water the roots or sprayed on the leaves, about once every 10days, which can make it send up more flower spikes and fuller blooms; stop fertilizing during the blooming period and the dormant period to avoid fertilizer burn.
