Surely everyone has guessed that this is the "Phalaenopsis" (moth orchid). It originates from tropical rainforests and uses its beauty to attract insects to continue its lineage, so this "looks-obsessed" plant is very well suited to the C-position spot in the living room. Everyone has surely seen the beauty and flower form of the Phalaenopsis, so for such a lively and graceful flower, how can its most beautiful moment be preserved for a longer time? Of course, besides using the method of reblooming to make it bloom again, there is also cutting off the best-looking flowers in advance and making them into dried flowers, so that their beauty can be preserved forever! Online, dried Phalaenopsis flowers can sometimes sell for a price of 100 yuan, but in fact, we can do it ourselves without spending a single penny.

What about the specific process? It is usually divided into two methods: the natural air-drying method and the desiccant method. The former, the natural air-drying method, saves the most money; you just need to find a place with good ventilation that also gets no sunlight.

First, choose a Phalaenopsis whose petals have not yet fully opened, cut it off from the stem, then find a piece of fishing line, gently pass it through the stem, and afterward hang it in the garage, or a similar well-ventilated place such as an attic, to ensure air can circulate. After about 2 to 3 weeks, touch the petals with your hand; if they have become crisp and hard, and the color has also darkened, that means they are dried. Finally, put the dried flowers into a transparent container or make them into a bouquet.

There is also the desiccant method, which does cost money, because you first need to buy some silica gel desiccant and a transparent container online or from a craft store. When making it, pour about half the desiccant into the container, then carefully place the Phalaenopsis in, and be sure not to damage the petals; if conditions allow, use a small paper cup or something similar as an aid. After placing the flower, pour in the remaining desiccant until the flower is completely covered, and that is done. Then seal it for 7 to 10 days; the desiccant will absorb all the moisture from the flower. Finally, open the container, gently brush the desiccant off the flower with a makeup brush, and it can be taken out for decoration!
