Mona Lisa Phalaenopsis, whose name comes from that world-famous painting, is a tall-stemmed, medium-to-large-flowered variety with small leaves and neatly arranged flower spikes. Its creamy yellow petal backs, peach-pink petals and deep red sepals make your heart skip a beat at first glance. When the flowers first open, the edges carry a fresh touch of yellow; as time passes, the yellow gradually fades into a soft creamy white, and every stage has its own kind of beauty.

The Mona Lisa Phalaenopsis has a fairly long blooming period, usually lasting 2-3 months, and with proper care it can last even longer, giving you plenty of time to enjoy its beauty.

The Mona Lisa Phalaenopsis is also fairly easy to grow. As long as you get the following care points right, there are basically no major problems.

Image

Light: Place it somewhere with bright, indirect light, and avoid direct strong sunlight, otherwise the leaves can easily get sunburned.

Temperature: 15 - 28°C is the most suitable growing temperature. Keep it warm in winter, and do not let the temperature drop below 10°C.

Watering: Wait until the surface of the potting medium is dry before watering, and water thoroughly each time. Never let water accumulate, otherwise the roots can easily rot.

Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply a dilute orchid-specific fertilizer once every 1 - 2 weeks. Before the blooming period, apply more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation.

Notes:

1.Make sure the growing environment has good ventilation, otherwise pests and diseases can easily develop.

2.Repot after the flowers fade, and be careful during the process, never damaging the roots.

3.For watering, use clean soft water as much as possible; rainwater or tap water left to sit for two or three days works very well.

4.If bud drop occurs, first check whether temperature, light, water or fertilizer are the problem, and adjust accordingly. If the temperature is unsuitable, adjust it promptly; if the light is too strong, move the plant to a spot with indirect light; if you have watered too much, take the plant out of its pot and let the roots dry, and if too little, replenish water in time; if fertilizing was improper, dilute it by watering with plain water if it was too concentrated, or apply fertilizer promptly if it was lacking. At the same time, reduce moving and touching the plant, and do not prune during the blooming period.

Whether grown on its own or combined with other flowers in a planter, the Mona Lisa Phalaenopsis is a great choice.
