What are the remedies for overwatering plants? How to remedy plants that have been watered too much
When you're caring for plants, a slip of the hand that leads to overwatering is all too common! Don't worry, though: when a plant gets too much water, you can rescue it using the methods below.

1.Stop watering immediately: Stop watering right away and keep a close eye on the roots and soil; only consider further care once everything has dried out completely. Continued watering deprives the roots of oxygen and causes them to rot, endangering the plant's life.

2.Improve the environment: Move the plant to a spot with good ventilation and suitable light, and raise the pot off the ground, for example by placing it on a raised plant stand. Good ventilation and light speed up water evaporation, creating a wet-dry cycle that benefits root growth.

3.Speed up evaporation: Use a clean chopstick to poke holes in the soil surface, 3 - 5 cm deep and 5 - 8 cm apart, adjusting according to the pot and soil conditions. The small holes increase the area of soil exposed to air and speed up water evaporation.

4.Clean up rotten roots: If you find roots that are soft and rotting, use sterilized scissors to cut away the rotted parts until healthy tissue is exposed, dig out the surrounding soil, then soak the roots in a mixture of carbendazim and rooting solution for half an hour to sterilize them and encourage new roots.

5.Remove spent flowers and dead leaves: Promptly pick off flowers and fruit and remove yellowed, withered leaves at the base. These parts consume nutrients and are a real burden on a weakened plant, and dead leaves can also become a breeding ground for pathogens.

6.Dry the soil and repot: After dealing with the roots, place the plant with its soil in a dry, ventilated spot with indirect light and let it dry for 1 - 2 days. Once the soil is moderately dry, choose a suitable pot and airy soil and replant it, water in with an appropriate amount to settle the roots, and take extra care with ongoing care afterward.
After the rescue, be sure not to water frequently again, and keep watching the plant's condition at all times. If the leaves still turn yellow and wilt, the roots may be severely damaged and you will need to check and treat them again. Master these little tricks and you can easily handle the problem of overwatering, so your plants at home grow strong and healthy!
