It turns out they rely on their own extraordinary beauty to attract insects for pollination. At night, in the eyes of insects, the petals of the Phalaenopsis orchid seem to glow on their own, shining brightly and being especially conspicuous, and precisely because of this, the Phalaenopsis orchid holds a one-of-a-kind place in the flower world. However, this uniqueness is destined to make it different from ordinary flowers. After flower lovers buy it and take it home, how should they care for it so it can burst into a full pot?

If you want the flowers to easily burst into a full pot, besides having a full understanding of care knowledge, you also need to know a little about selecting Phalaenopsis orchids, otherwise you may fall into a "buying trap" if you are not careful. So how exactly should you choose healthy Phalaenopsis orchid seedlings?

First, look at the leaves. A healthy Phalaenopsis orchid has upright, thick, and resilient leaves, with a normal green or deep green color, and the leaf surface looks glossy green. The best number is three or four leaves, because during the peak blooming period, more nutrients are needed, and thick, plump leaves can provide more supply. If the leaves are wilted, yellowing, limp, thin, shrunken, or curled, do not buy it, as this is most likely a sign of disease.

Second, look at the condition of the roots. Healthy roots are greenish-white, uniform in thickness, feel firm to the touch, and have no rotten or dried-out areas. If the roots are black or gray, that indicates a lack of water. If they are yellow or white and many are hollow with root rot already present, and if the root tips are dark brown with mold spots, all of these situations should be rejected.

Finally, choose ones with plump, vivid flowers and a vigorous look. There should be no missing petals, and no scorched edges at the front or back. If it looks thin and incomplete, or only a few flowers have opened, do not take it, because when the environment changes, the flowers are prone to bud drop.

In addition, to distinguish whether an orchid is an adult or a young plant, you can tell by the size of the flower diameter. Above 10 cm is a large flower, 7.5 to 10 cm is a medium flower, and below 7.5 cm is a small flower. High-quality Phalaenopsis orchids have many and uniform flowers. Grade A has 9 - 10 flowers, Grade B has 7 - 8, Grade C has 5 - 6, more than 11 is premium grade, and more than 16 is top grade.
