Is the Tianlai Phalaenopsis a large-flowered or small-flowered orchid, and what causes its leaves to split?
Today I want to share with you the Phalaenopsis orchid - Tianlai

The Tianlai Phalaenopsis has medium-to-large blooms that look like gracefully dancing big tongues, extraordinarily lively. The base color of the petals is as white as snow, with purplish-red patches dotted at the center, forming a sharp contrast with the pure white petals and adding a sense of depth to the flowers. No matter where you place it in your home, it is an eye-catching focal point.

Under normal care, the Tianlai Phalaenopsis can stay in bloom for 2-3 months. If the conditions are right, such as proper temperature and humidity control and suitable supplemental lighting, the blooming period can even be extended to about 4 months.

During care, if you notice the leaves cracking, don't worry - it may be due to too great a change in humidity; when a Phalaenopsis orchid suddenly moves from a high-humidity environment to a dry one, the leaves are prone to cracking. The way to deal with it is to adjust the humidity gradually; you can use a humidifier to raise the humidity, or place it on a tray with a water dish.

In addition, improper watering can also cause the leaves to crack. If you water too much at once, the roots cannot absorb it all, the internal pressure of the plant increases, and the leaves will crack. The right approach is to follow the principle of "water thoroughly only when completely dry"; feel 2-3 cm into the potting medium with your finger, and water again once it feels dry; when you water, water thoroughly.

Care methods
Light: The Tianlai Phalaenopsis prefers bright, indirect light, and a spot 1-2 m away from a window is quite suitable. In summer, when the sunlight is intense, you should pull up a shade net to prevent sunburn; in winter, it can soak up a bit more sun.
Temperature: The most suitable growing temperature is 25-28°C during the day and 18-20°C at night. In summer, when it exceeds 30°C, pay attention to ventilation and cooling; in winter, when it drops below 15°C, you need to take good warmth measures.
Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every 1-2 weeks; when the flower buds are differentiating, switch to a phosphorus-potassium fertilizer, which can make the flowers abundant and large. Remember to apply light fertilizer frequently, and never apply strong fertilizer.

Friendly reminder
Ventilation is very important! Be sure to maintain good ventilation, otherwise pests and diseases are likely to breed.
Don't repot too frequently. Generally, repotting once every 1-2 years is enough, and it is best to do it after the blooming period. When repotting, handle it carefully and gently so as not to damage the roots.
