Calling all beginner gardeners! Today I want to share a stunningly beautiful orchid with you: the Phalaenopsis 'Little Peacock'. It is absolutely a beginner-friendly choice that even total novices can grow with ease.

Phalaenopsis 'Little Peacock' is a small-flowered type. When it blooms, it looks just like a peacock spreading its tail feathers, bold and dazzling. Its purple petals are wonderfully dreamy. The petals are irregularly marked with distinctive spots and leopard-like patterns, wild yet lively, instantly elevating the style of any home.

The blooming period of Phalaenopsis 'Little Peacock' is extraordinarily long-lasting! Generally speaking, with proper care, it can bloom for 3 - 4 months, flowering from late winter all the way into spring. It also produces a generous number of blooms, with many flowers on a single spike, densely packed and of extremely high ornamental value.

In terms of carewhat should you do about bud drop? Bud drop can really be a headache, but don't panic. Generally speaking, large temperature swings, improper watering and over-fertilising can all lead to bud drop. If you notice bud drop, first check the growing environment and move it to a spot with a stable temperature of 15 - 25°C, reduce how often you water, stop fertilising for the time being and let the plant recover.

Care methods and things to watch out for

Light: It likes bright, indirect light, so never expose it to harsh direct sun, or the leaves will easily get scorched. Just place it somewhere bright indoors, such as near a living room window.

Watering: Follow the principle of "water when dry, and water thoroughly". Feel the growing medium with your hand, water only when it is dry, and water until it runs through. When watering, be careful not to splash water onto the flowers or into the leaf axils, as this can easily cause the flowers and leaves to rot.

Fertilising: During the growing season you can apply a dilute liquid fertiliser once every 1 - 2 weeks. Before flowering, add extra phosphorus and potassium fertiliser to get more and bigger blooms. But be sure to use weak fertiliser frequently, and avoid strong fertiliser that can burn the roots.

Temperature: The ideal growing temperature for 'Little Peacock' is between 15 - 28°C. In winter, keep it warm and don't let it get cold, or it can easily suffer cold damage.

Ventilation: A well-ventilated environment is very important! You can place it somewhere with good airflow to avoid stuffiness and dampness and reduce the occurrence of pests and diseases.
