Many flower lovers are always troubled by this: why do the fresh flowers they grow always look poor and fail to keep blooming for long? Today I am sharing a few super practical flower-growing tips with you!

1.Reviving the flowers: Fresh flowers just brought home have lost a great deal of water during long transport, so you should unwrap them promptly and revive them. Cut the base of each stem at a 45-degree angle, which greatly increases the water-absorbing area45 degrees, then soak them in clean water, leaving only the blooms exposed. After about 8 hours, the flowers will be full of life again.

2.Growing in water: For flowers grown in water, a clear glass vase is the best choice, as it makes it easy to observe the stems and the water quality. You can use rainwater, well water or mineral water for the flowers; if you use tap water, let it sit for a few days first. Do not let the water level get too high either, or the stems will rot easily.

3.Change the water often: When caring for fresh flowers, there is no need to spray water on the blooms; regularly changing the clean water is the key. In summer, when temperatures are high, bacteria multiply quickly, so change the water every 1 - 2 days; in winter, when temperatures are low, change the water every 5 - 7 days.

When changing the water, take the stems out and rinse the inside of the vase carefully with clean water to remove clinging dirt and bacteria. At the same time, cut another 1 - 2 cm off the base of the stems at an angle, keeping the cut fresh and ensuring smooth water uptake. You can also add a few drops of white vinegar or lemon juice to the water to adjust its pH and inhibit bacterial growth, which keeps the flowers in a clean growing environment.

4.Add nutrients: Flowers growing in water also need nutrients, so you can add an appropriate amount of nutrient solution; aspirin tablets, vitaminC and white sugar are all excellent nutrient supplements. For every 500 ml of water, add 1 - 2 aspirin tablets, or 1 - 2 vitaminC tablets, or 1 - 2 spoonfuls of white sugar; all of these can supply the nutrients the flowers need and extend the blooming period.

5.Indirect light: When caring for fresh flowers, place them where the light is not intense and keep them in indirect light; they should neither be exposed to harsh sun nor kept in deep shade. You can place the flowers indoors near a window but out of direct sunlight; corners of the living room or study are both good choices. In summer, when the sun is strong, draw a thin sheer curtain to shade the flowers; in winter, when the sun is weaker, you can move the flowers a little closer to the window so they enjoy more warm sunlight, and only then will the flowers grow healthily.
