Surely every plant lover wants their flowers to always look their best! Especially for pricey flowers like the Phalaenopsis (moth orchid), besides wanting beautiful blooms, everyone even wants to make the pot a pleasing style. However, in the flower market, don't be fooled by good-looking pots, because choosing a pot is like buying shoes - looking good alone is useless, it must also fit properly. For pots, different materials require completely different care methods.

To create a "gorgeous home" for the Phalaenopsis, most friends probably think first of a transparent glass bottle, because with glass you can clearly see every root inside, and even every leaf. So among the dazzling array of styles on the market, how do you choose well?

First, it is recommended to choose a glass bottle of moderate size, not too large or too small, so as to provide a comfortable growing space for the Phalaenopsis. At the same time, note that the glass bottle should not be too thin, because the interior needs to withstand a certain water pressure and plant weight; the bottle opening should be wide, for easier care and pruning later.

After choosing the pot, also note that the key point is to arrange the layout along the growth direction of the roots. Here is a little trick: first pick some brand-new sphagnum moss, and remember to soak and wash it clean before use. After soaking, start laying it at the bottom of the bottle, and like wrapping a zongzi, gently wrap the Phalaenopsis roots with the sphagnum moss. At this time, move gently, because its roots are very slender and break easily. Finally, when topping it off, press it slightly firm and it is done.

The reason transparent glass pots for Phalaenopsis are so common on the market is that transparency lets you observe its growth condition most directly and quickly. If during care you find mold spots or insects, you can deal with them immediately; otherwise the plant can easily be killed outright by disease.

In addition, when using sphagnum moss as the growing medium, remember to replace it with new sphagnum moss regularly. If there is green algae inside, mold spots, or it is too wet, then it needs changing. Watering also has its particularities: keeping the soil moist is enough, and pay special attention to clean water quality. I suggest you can first draw the water and place it beside the Phalaenopsis, letting it sit for a few days before use.
