What to Do If You Over-Fertilize a Split Phalaenopsis? Care Methods and Tips Included
Today I want to recommend a Phalaenopsis orchid — Split. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the "beauty icon" among Phalaenopsis orchids, and you will not regret getting one!

Split belongs to the Anthura Phalaenopsis varieties and is a true beauty icon. It is a medium-flowered type, with flat, well-spread petals, an orderly and neat inflorescence, dignified and elegant coloring, and clear, crisp stripes. Its overall temperament is refined and fresh; placed at home, it instantly elevates the style and its ornamental value is off the charts.

The Split Phalaenopsis has an extremely long flowering period; with proper care, it can stay in bloom for as long as 2 - 3 months. Its natural flowering period is generally in winter and spring, but in a suitable indoor environment it can even bloom across seasons, giving you plenty of time to enjoy its beauty.

During care, if you accidentally over-fertilize, do not panic!First, water heavily and let the water flush through the soil to dilute the fertilizer concentration, draining the excess fertilizer out through the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot. Next, observe the plant's condition; if symptoms of fertilizer burn appear, such as yellowing or wilting leaves, you can take the plant out of the pot, rinse the roots, trim the damaged roots, and then repot it in fresh, clean substrate.

Routine care
Light: Place it in a bright spot indoors to receive diffused light, and avoid direct strong light, otherwise the leaves can easily get sunburned. Providing 4 - 6 hours of light per day is enough to meet its growth needs.
Watering: Follow the principle of "water when dry, and water thoroughly when you do"; wait until the surface of the substrate is dry before watering, and when you water, water it thoroughly. Generally, water once every 7 - 10 days, adjusting the specific frequency according to the environmental humidity and temperature.
Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every 10 - 15 days, and increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before the flowering period to promote flower bud differentiation.

Precautions
Temperature: The suitable growing temperature is 18 - 28°C; in winter it must not go below 10°C, otherwise it is prone to cold damage.
Humidity: It likes a high-humidity environment; keep the air humidity at 60% - 80%, and you can increase humidity by misting, placing a water tray, and similar methods.
Ventilation: Maintain good ventilation and avoid a stuffy, humid environment, otherwise pests and diseases are likely to develop.
