Reasons Why Phalaenopsis Orchid Buds Wither and How to Care for Them
For gardening enthusiasts who have kept Phalaenopsis orchids before, growing them well is indeed a challenge. During the care process, the most common situation is that a newly purchased Phalaenopsis orchid has bright blooms, but after only about 20 days of care, it wilts. Why does this happen? When faced with this situation, how should we handle it?

As a rather delicate flower, the Phalaenopsis orchid is prone to withering when not cared for properly, and all these problems actually stem from inadequate daily care, overwatering, or exposure to harsh sun, excessive fertilizing, and so on. Although caring for Phalaenopsis orchids is somewhat difficult, as long as you master the correct care techniques, you can still make it bloom abundantly. At the same time, proper care can also effectively extend the flowering period of the Phalaenopsis orchid.

What should be done during care? First, the primary task in growing Phalaenopsis orchids is to ensure suitable light, because its light requirements are rather special: it can tolerate neither strong light nor an overly dark environment with poor ventilation. Therefore, the most suitable environment is a spot with partial shade and partial sun. In daily care, it cannot be placed in a position with fierce direct sunlight, while also ensuring at least 4 to 6 hours of soft sunlight exposure each day.

Then, to ensure healthy growth of the Phalaenopsis orchid, the surrounding air temperature also needs to be within a relatively constant range, with the ideal temperature being 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. If the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius or above 30 degrees Celsius, it may have an adverse effect on its growth. Especially during the dog days of summer, a shady spot with suitable humidity should be chosen to place the Phalaenopsis orchid, to prevent high temperatures from harming it. In winter, this cannot be ignored either. When it is cold, it is recommended to place the Phalaenopsis orchid indoors, and when the nighttime temperature is low, you can put a black bag over it to keep it warm.

Finally, daily watering is also crucial in caring for Phalaenopsis orchids. Although it loves a humid environment, too much water will instead cause the roots to become saturated with moisture. Therefore, watering should be adjusted according to the season and weather conditions. The best method is to touch the potting soil with your hand to make sure it is moist but not overly wet. At the same time, when watering, avoid splashing water on the buds and flowers, so as to prevent the flowers from withering prematurely.
