Phalaenopsis Mingyue is a medium-to-large-flowered variety. Its petals have a mango-yellow color with very high saturation, and the lower petals also carry red stripes, making the overall color bright and vivid. The lip is orange-red, forming a sharp contrast with the yellow petals, which adds a sense of layering to the flower and gives it a certain ornamental value. However, when caring for Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis Mingyue is a medium-to-large-flowered variety whose petals carry a mango-yellow color of very high saturation, while the lower petals are also marked with red stripes, making the overall coloring bright and vivid. The lip is orange-red, forming a sharp contrast with the yellow petals and adding a sense of depth to the flower, giving it considerable ornamental value. However, caring for Phalaenopsis Mingyue is no easy task, especially in winter, when a single misstep can cause bud drop.

Signs of bud drop:

Buds stop growing: the buds no longer continue to swell, and their color becomes dull and lusterless.

Buds become soft and wrinkled: buds that were once firm become soft and develop wrinkles.

Abnormal flower stems: water-soaked spots appear at the tips of the flower stems, which turn yellow and become thinner.

The plant's condition deteriorates: the leaves lose their luster, new leaves stop emerging, and old leaves turn yellow.

Remedies:

1. Adjust the light: move the Phalaenopsis to a spot with bright but indirect light, such as a south-facing window screened with sheer fabric, where it receives 4-6hours of diffused light per day.

2. Control the temperature: keep the ambient temperature at 18-25°C, and move the plant to a warm spot indoors, avoiding temperatures that are too low.

3. Increase humidity: by misting or using a humidifier, maintain the air humidity at 60%-80%

4. Adjust watering: follow the principle of "water when dry, and water thoroughly when you do" insert a finger 1-2cm into the growing medium and water again when it is dry, watering thoroughly while avoiding standing water.

Everyday Winter Care Tips for Phalaenopsis Mingyue

Light: winter sunlight is soft, so the plant can be placed on a south-facing windowsill and receive at least 5hours of light per day. Shade it appropriately around midday to prevent scorching of the leaves and flowers.

Temperature: keep the indoor temperature at 15°C or above; below 10°C growth slows and the plant may suffer cold damage. Keep it away from direct blasts from radiators or air conditioners to prevent localized overheating.

Watering: water once every 7-10days, watering when the temperature is higher around midday and using room-temperature water. When watering, pour slowly around the edge of the pot, avoiding the crown of the plant.

Fertilizing: before bringing the plant indoors, apply a diluted phosphorus-potassium fertilizer once, such as monopotassium phosphate diluted 1000times, applied to the roots or sprayed on the leaves. After that, fertilize once every 1-2months, with the concentration reduced by half.
