What Are Aromatic Plants? Introduction to Ornamental Varieties
Aromatic plants, in the broad sense, refer to plants that can be used to extract and prepare fragrance materials. They usually contain volatile compounds and serve multiple functions such as fragrance enhancement, medicinal use (health preservation) and food use. These include, but are not limited to, aromatic herbs, aromatic flowers, aromatic fruits, aromatic vegetables, aromatic trees and aromatic vines. In China's rich treasury of aromatic plants, many aromatic plants are both fragrance materials and medicinal materials, hence the saying "fragrance and medicine share the same origin."
Dracocephalum moldavica: Dracocephalum moldavica, also known as mountain mint or mountain fragrant, is a fine ornamental plant. Its corolla is labiate, blue-purple, small and natural, giving off a sweet fragrance at all times, hence the name "master of sweet fragrance." It is not only a medicinal plant commonly used by ethnic groups in China, but its dried ripe fruit, Dracocephalum moldavica seed, also has the effects of tonifying both heart and brain, refreshing the mind and uplifting the spirits, and relieving pain and cough. In home gardening, Dracocephalum moldavica is suitable for planting on balconies, in courtyards, at wellness institutions and schools, adding interest to life while also having practical value.

German chamomile: German chamomile, also known as bitter yi, mountain chrysanthemum or sweet wild chrysanthemum, is one of the nectar-source plants. In late autumn, the golden petals of German chamomile blanket the hillsides and fields, with elegant flower colors and a fresh fragrance that attracts large numbers of bees to gather nectar. German chamomile can not only be used to make tea, but also as a food ingredient in soups, stir-fries and fillings, with a fragrant and slightly bitter taste. At the same time, German chamomile can also be used as medicine and has conditioning effects. In horticulture, German chamomile is suitable for balcony pot cultivation, courtyard planting, gardens, fragrant gardens and many other landscape arrangements, adding a touch of elegance to the environment.

Cuban oregano: Cuban oregano not only retains the coolness of mint, but also inherits the characteristic of releasing an apple fragrance when touched. Its leaves can be used to make tea or infuse liquor, and can also be used in cooking, soups, stir-fries and cold dishes. Cuban oregano also has the effect of refreshing the mind and repelling mosquitoes, making it a preferred choice for indoor potted plants. Its care is relatively simple; it likes a sunny environment, with an optimum growing temperature of 20-30°C, and follows the watering principle of "water when dry, stop when wet," with a diluted liquid fertilizer applied once a month. Cuban oregano is suitable for placement on balconies, in courtyards, at eco-restaurants and in fragrant gardens, adding a touch of life.

Lavender: There are many kinds of lavender, among which narrow-leaved lavender and broad-leaved lavender are highly regarded. Narrow-leaved lavender has purple flower spikes, strong growth, tolerance to pruning, and beautiful leaf shapes and flower colors, noble and elegant. Its flowers can enhance the flavor of jams and are suitable for making cakes and herbal tea, and because of its high oil yield, it has calming and sleep-aiding effects. Broad-leaved lavender, on the other hand, belongs to the original lavender type, with broader leaves and longer flower stems and spikes, and the whole plant has a rich fragrance. The flowers of broad-leaved lavender contain aromatic oil and are an important raw material for formulating cosmetics and soap fragrances. Lavender is suitable for pot cultivation, courtyard planting, fragrant gardens, wellness institutions, flower beds and many other application scenarios, adding a touch of romance and mystery to the environment.
Aromatic plants not only have practical value, but also ornamental value. Varieties such as Dracocephalum moldavica, German chamomile, Cuban oregano and lavender each add infinite charm to our living environment with their unique forms and fragrances.
