The Chinese evergreen has a very good symbolic meaning, representing longevity, wealth, peace and health, and keeping it at home both brings good fortune to the house and is pleasing to the eye. However, if during care it always tends to grow yellow leaves, what should be done about this situation?

First, if yellow leaves appear, take a closer look at the condition of the potting soil. If there is too much water accumulating in it, then it is most likely that you have been watering too much daily. The Chinese evergreen itself has fleshy roots that store water, so normally you only need to follow the "water when dry, stop when wet" principle when watering. If at this time there is too much water and ventilation is not good, the water stays stored in the roots, and the roots will rot because of being suffocated, which in turn affects the leaves and makes them turn yellow. If this situation has already occurred, promptly remove the yellow leaves, then drain out the excess water; you can also use paper towels to absorb the water, and at the same time place it in a well-ventilated place and reduce the frequency of watering.

Secondly, yellow leaves on the Chinese evergreen may also be caused by poor nutrition of the whole plant, because it is not given fertilizer in time in daily care, and the nutrients in the soil are absorbed during the growth process. If at this time it is not given extra nutrition, it will gradually decline in later growth. So it is recommended to apply fertilizer about once every half month; when fertilizing, it is best to choose a fertilizer mixed from multiple substances such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to meet the plant's growth needs.

Finally, yellow leaves may also be caused by insufficient light. The Chinese evergreen likes a bright environment; as long as it can absorb enough sunlight, it can carry out photosynthesis and make its leaves emerald green. If it is kept in a dark environment for a long time, yellow leaves will easily appear. It is recommended to place it in a bright spot indoors for care. In all four seasons except summer, when the light is particularly strong and shade is needed, it can be given all-day light in the other seasons.
