Today I want to introduce you to a super charming flower - the nemesia (Nemesia)!

The nemesia plant is relatively short and compact, with a height of about 15 - 30cm, making it very suitable for growing in pots or planting at the edge of a flower bed. Its leaves are slender and emerald green, and its flowers are small, delicate and brilliantly colorful. The petals come in single and double forms; single nemesia are simple and fresh, while double ones are fuller and more magnificent. The flower colors are so rich they dazzle the eye, including white, pink, yellow, red, and purple as well as various transitional shades.

The flower language of nemesia is "deception," and there is an interesting little story behind it. Legend has it that nemesia often attracts bees and butterflies to come and collect nectar, but its nectar is hidden very deep, so these little insects often go away empty-handed, as if it had "deceived" them with its beautiful appearance. However, in modern flower culture, we prefer to understand its flower language from another angle: the changing colors and unique flower shape of nemesia can also symbolize the surprises and mysteries of life.

Nemesia is generally sown in autumn, and around September - Octoberis the best sowing time. The temperature and humidity at this time are very suitable for its seeds to germinate.

Sois nemesia easy to grow? The answer is definitely yes! Nemesia really is a very easy flower to grow, and even gardening beginners can handle it with ease.

Key care points

Light: Nemesia likes plenty of sunlight, but during the high temperatures of summer, a little shade will make it more comfortable. You can place it on a balcony or in a courtyard.

Temperature: It is fairly cold-tolerant. In the cold winter, as long as the temperature does not drop below minus 5°C, it will be perfectly fine. However, it is not very heat-tolerant; when the summer temperature exceeds 30°C, it may grow slowly or enter a short dormant period.

Watering: Just follow the principle of "water when dry, dry when wet." Insert your finger gently into the soil, and when it feels dry, water thoroughly. Generally speaking, in spring and autumn, water about once every 2 - 3days. In summer, when the weather is hot and water evaporates quickly, you can water once a day, but be careful to use an appropriate amount. In winter, reduce the frequency of watering, to about once every 7 - 10days.

Fertilizing: During the growing season, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every 2 - 3weeks so that it has enough energy to grow and bloom. You can choose a compound fertilizer rich in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, dilute it according to the ratio in the instructions and then water it on. Before the flowering period, increase the amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer applied, such as potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

Pruning: After the flowers fade, prune the spent blooms promptly. This not only keeps it looking attractive but also saves nutrients.
