Phalaenopsis Jade Guanyin is not a European orchid. It is a variety within the Phalaenopsis family that carries a distinctly Eastern charm.

Phalaenopsis Jade Guanyin is a medium-to-large-flowered type. Its petals are pure white, and the warm honey-toned large lip stands out beautifully. The flower spike is neatly arranged, the leaves are thick and sturdy, and it is both highly attractive and easy to care for. The contrasting color pairing of white flowers with an orange center makes it all the more pleasing to look at and all the more distinctive.

Jade Guanyin has a fairly long flowering period. If cared for properly, from the first opening of the flowers to their gradual fading, it can last about3 - 4 months.

Many flower lovers worry that it is difficult to grow. In fact, as long as you master the key points, Jade Guanyin can thrive too.

Light: It prefers soft, diffused light. Never expose it to direct blazing sun, or the delicate petals and leaves may be damaged. You can place it by an indoor window so it can bask in gentle sunshine.

Temperature: The most suitable growing temperature is between18 and28°C. In winter, special attention must be paid to keeping it warm, and the temperature must not drop below10°C, otherwise its growth will be affected and the plant may even suffer frost damage.

Watering: Follow the principle of "water thoroughly only after the soil has dried out completely." Use your finger to gently probe about2 to3 cm deep into the soil. Once it feels dry, water it. When watering, make sure to water thoroughly so that moisture seeps out from the bottom of the pot, but never let water accumulate, as this can cause root rot.

Fertilizing: During the growing period, apply a dilute liquid fertilizer once every2 to3 weeks. Before the flowering period, increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to encourage the flowers to be even more brilliant and colorful and more numerous.

Care Tips

Make sure there is smooth ventilation and avoid a stuffy, humid environment, so as to reduce the buildup of bacteria, pests and diseases.

Check the condition of the plant regularly. As soon as you notice yellow leaves, withered leaves or signs of pests and diseases, take action immediately.

If repotting is needed, the best time is spring. Replace the potting soil once every1 to2 years to ensure the soil remains fertile and airy.
