What causes lily leaves to turn yellow and wither?
I believe many flower lovers have grown lilies successfully, but anyone who has grown them will complain that lily leaves turn yellow very easily. Why is that?

Generally speaking, yellowing lily leaves are mostly caused by factors such as insufficient nutrients, improper watering, soil problems, pests and diseases. Among these, regarding soil problems, lilies have a relatively high demand for nutrients, and if the soil lacks nutrients, the leaves will turn yellow. In this case, it is recommended to fertilize with nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and promptly replenish the missing elements, so as to prevent the leaves from continuing to yellow and affecting the ornamental value of the whole plant. It is recommended to give lilies sufficient water and nutrients in daily care, and when watering, an appropriate amount of organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer can be added to replenish the nutrient elements in the soil. At the same time, when watering, make sure the soil is moist but not waterlogged, because excessive lack of water can also cause the leaves to turn yellow.

The next cause is pest and disease infestation. Lilies are susceptible to pests and diseases such as aphids, sheath blight and powdery mildew. These pests and diseases easily damage the tissue of the leaves, causing them to lose their normal respiratory function, which in turn leads to yellowing leaves. It is recommended to frequently observe whether there are abnormalities such as insects or disease spots on the leaves and stems of lilies. If any are found, promptly use biological pesticides or chemical pesticides for timely control, and be sure to follow the instructions when using them. At the same time, prune leaves that are aged or damaged by pests and diseases (with clean pruning tools), and promptly clean up the pruned diseased or yellow leaves to prevent the spread of disease.

Finally, there is leaf yellowing caused by environmental factors. The specific causes are mostly environmental factors such as excessive sunlight, high temperatures, low temperatures and unsuitable humidity, which put stress on the growth of lilies. It is recommended, in daily care, to place it in a spot with scattered light, and in hot, dry summer environments, improve the conditions by misting, shading and other methods.
