A Detailed Guide to the Blooming Period, Cultivation Methods and Precautions for China Asters
Recently, a popular saying has been spreading widely in overseas circles: "Have you been astered today?" It uses a homophone pun on "China aster" (cuiju) to mean "resolutely rejected (cui ju)". In fact, the China aster is a chrysanthemum that fills people with joy once it blooms, because every one of its colors is extremely eye-catching, and placing it in the home gives a sense of vitality.

The flower language of the China aster represents reliable love and "please believe in me". Giving it to a loved one is very appropriate, as a symbol of steadfast love. In terms of care, it likes warmth and light. The suitable temperature for China aster growth is above 15°C. It can be placed on the balcony to receive 3-5 hours of photosynthesis, because only in this way will its growth become better and better, and it will not be prone to yellow leaves. However, although it likes light, exposure to strong direct light can easily scorch the leaves and cause them to turn dry and yellow, so during periods of high temperature and strong sun it should be moved indoors promptly for care.

When it comes to watering, the China aster is more afraid of water than other flowers. The reason is that its root system is relatively shallow, so daily watering should not be too frequent. If overwatering leads to water accumulation, its roots may rot. Once the roots are damaged, the later growth of the China aster will be greatly affected, and the most obvious sign is that the leaves of the entire pot turn yellow. Pay special attention to newly purchased China asters: be sure to check the soil condition. If it is moist, wait until it dries out before replenishing water. After watering, any excess water should be drained promptly, and the plant should be moved to a ventilated place for care.

If you want the China aster to grow vigorously, fertilizing is indispensable. About ten days after buying it, you can apply some dilute fertilizer to ensure a nutrient supply for the flowers. During the flowering period (around May), you can add phosphorus fertilizer for it, or buy a comprehensive nutrient solution at a flower shop and simply spray it directly on the leaves. After fertilizing in this way, the flowers will be more vividly colored, the flower stems will be somewhat larger, and the flowering period will be extended by a full 6 months.
