The blooming period of the large pink-flowered Phalaenopsis is quite long! Generally speaking, with proper care, it can keep blooming for about 2 - 3 months.

How to plant and care for it:

Substrate choice: choose a loose, breathable, well-draining substrate, such as sphagnum moss, bark, or coconut coir. Before use, soak sphagnum moss thoroughly and then squeeze it dry until it feels damp when squeezed in the hand but does not drip.

Light conditions: it likes bright, indirect light and dislikes direct strong sunlight. It can be placed indoors by a window shaded with a sheer curtain, or on an east- or north-facing windowsill and other spots without direct sunlight. Too much light will scorch the leaves and cause the flowers to fade early, while too little will affect blooming and flower color.

Temperature requirements: the suitable growing temperature is 15 - 28°C. Keep it warm in winter, not below 10°C; in summer, when temperatures exceed 30°C, it may go dormant, so appropriate cooling is needed, such as misting the surrounding area.

Watering techniques: this is a key step, as the fleshy roots easily rot from waterlogging. Insert a finger into the substrate, and when it is dry 2 - 3 cm below the surface, water thoroughly and let the water run out from the bottom of the pot. With a sphagnum moss substrate, the watering frequency can be slightly lower; with a well-draining substrate such as bark, the number of waterings can be appropriately increased. Water less in winter; in summer, you can increase air humidity but avoid waterlogging.

Fertilizing method: growth and blooming require ample nutrients. During the growing season (spring and autumn), apply a low-concentration, diluted liquid fertilizer once every 2 - 3 weeks (such as diluted Phalaenopsis nutrient solution). Before the blooming period, apply additional phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation and blooming; when fertilizing, avoid splashing it onto the leaves and flowers.

Points to note:

Ventilation is very important: it needs a well-ventilated environment, so it can be placed in a living room or other spot with good air circulation, but avoid direct drafts from an air vent, which can reduce pests and diseases.

Avoid moving it frequently: it is sensitive to environmental changes, so once you have chosen a good spot, try not to move it around casually, otherwise it will affect growth and blooming.

Pest and disease control: common pests and diseases include anthracnose, soft rot, and scale insects. Check all parts of the plant regularly and deal with any pests or diseases promptly. Anthracnose and soft rot can be controlled with fungicides such as carbendazim; scale insects can be wiped off with a soft cloth dipped in alcohol or treated with a dedicated insecticide, paying attention to concentration and safety.
