The persimmon family is very large, with the common types being soft persimmons and crisp persimmons. After ripening, soft persimmons have tender, sweet, and glutinous flesh; with a gentle suck, the sweet juice spreads through the mouth, such as Fuyu persimmons and Jiro persimmons. Persimmon is rich in various nutrients, among which the vitamin C content is quite considerable.Vitamin C is like a little guardian inside our body, able to boost immunity, promote collagen synthesis, and keep our skin elastic and radiant. At the same time, persimmon also contains a large amount of carotene, which can be converted into vitamin A in the human body and plays an important role in protecting our eyesight, like putting a "protective shield" over the eyes to prevent night blindness and other eye problems.

In terms of medicinal use, persimmon also has the effect of moistening the lungs and relieving cough, and is very effective for coughs caused by lung heat.It clearsheatand promotes fluid production, relieving dry mouth and throat. At the same time, it helps strengthen the spleen and resolve phlegm, offering certain benefits for spleen and stomach health.

Although persimmon is good, there are some foods that should not be eaten with it.Crabs are cold in nature, and eating them together easily harms the spleen and stomach, causing abdominal pain and diarrhea. Moreover, the protein in crabs combines with the tannic acid in persimmons, possibly forming substances in the body that are difficult to digest; sweet potatoes produce gastric acid in the stomach, which reacts with the tannic acid in persimmons and easily forms hard masses, possibly leading to gastric persimmon stone disease and causing stomach discomfort; alcohol irritates the gastrointestinal tract, and eating it with persimmons may speed up intestinal peristalsis, increasing the chance of tannic acid binding and leading to gastrointestinal dysfunction.

Next, I will share with you the planting and care methods for persimmons, so you can easily have a persimmon tree laden with fruit.

Persimmon trees are generally planted in spring or autumn. Spring planting should be done after the soil thaws and before the saplings sprout; autumn planting should be done after the leaves fall and before the soil freezes. This allows the saplings to better adapt to the new environment and improves the survival rate.

Persimmon trees like a sunny environment; sufficient light allows persimmons to carry out photosynthesis better, accumulate sugars, and make the fruit sweeter. They have strong adaptability to soil, but soil that is deep, well-drained, and rich in organic matter is best.

Before planting, first dig the planting hole; the size of the hole should be determined according to the size of the sapling's root system. Place the sapling into the hole, spread the roots out, then fill with soil. During filling, gently lift the sapling so that the soil fills the gaps between the roots. After filling, water thoroughly to settle the roots.

Daily care for persimmon trees is also very important. In terms of watering, persimmon trees are drought-tolerant, but during the growing season (flowering period and fruit enlargement period) the soil must be kept moist, watered thoroughly while avoiding waterlogging, and watering should be reduced during the winter dormant period. In terms of fertilizing, young trees mainly need nitrogen fertilizer, applied before spring sprouting and during the summer vigorous growth period; adult fruiting trees need different fertilizers at different stages, such as before budding, during fruit enlargement, and after harvest, applied as needed. In terms of pruning, in winter cut off dead branches, diseased branches, overly dense branches, crossing branches, etc., and cut back overly long branches; in summer, pinch the new shoots and twist the tips. In terms of preventing common diseases, such as persimmon angular leaf spot and anthracnose, use fungicides promptly when found; to control common pests such as persimmon mealybug and persimmon fruit borer, use the corresponding insecticides at specific times.
