The Benefits and Uses of Meadow Rue, Plus Growing Methods and Precautions
Retired cadres who have been sent to the countryside are surely more than familiar with the "meadow rue" plant. It mostly grows in places such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hubei, Anhui and Zhejiang, and it most loves to grow on moist hillsides, under forest canopies or beside streams. In traditional medicine it has effects such as treating rheumatism and bruises from falls and blows.

Although many young people do not know about its medicinal value, because meadow rue has dense small flowers in appearance, it has also begun to attract attention from more people in recent years. It is not too demanding about its growing environment; the ideal room temperature is usually between 10°C and 20°C, and it can be placed near a bright window at home. A north-facing or east-facing window position is recommended, because the light from these two directions is softer. As a perennial herbaceous plant, meadow rue likes an environment with relatively high humidity. If the weather in summer is relatively dry, it is suggested to spray appropriately around it to increase air humidity.
As for daily care in terms of watering, although it likes a relatively high-humidity environment, its soil needs follow the principle of "dry when dry, wet when wet", and when watering it is better to water less than to water more. During vigorous growth in spring and summer, it can be kept a little moister, but in autumn and winter the soil should be kept slightly drier. When choosing a flower pot, it is best to choose one with many drainage holes in the bottom, as this can prevent water accumulation from causing root rot. A loose soil rich in humus is recommended; this kind of soil has good drainage and can avoid unnecessary root rot caused by water accumulation.

Growing flowers and plants cannot lack nutrient supply. During the vigorous growth period of meadow rue (in spring), a diluted general-purpose fertilizer can be applied to promote healthy plant growth. In addition, also observe it daily for withered and yellow leaves and stems; if similar things are found, they also need to be pruned. Doing so can both encourage the sprouting of new buds and reduce the nutrients allocated to useless withered and yellow leaves and stems.
When caring for meadow rue at home, pay attention to observing the plant's growth state and adjust care measures in a timely manner. In this way you can not only enjoy its beauty, but also ensure its healthy growth. Remember, the environmental conditions of every home are different, so the above suggestions may need slight adjustment to suit a specific home environment.
