How to grow Nymphoides hydrophylla 'Taiwan' in water? Water change frequency and how to use tap water
Today I'm sharing a perennial aquatic herb called "one-leaf lotus" (Nymphoides hydrophylla 'Taiwan'), which some flower shop owners also call the gold-and-silver lotus. In appearance, it has broad, rounded leaves, and its flowers are mostly elegant white and pink; reflecting in the water, they look like gems set in the blue waves. At the same time, every flower it blooms has a faint, delicate fragrance that makes one feel refreshed and relaxed.

This irresistible "one-leaf lotus" is suitable for growing in ponds, water pools, aquariums or fish tanks; in short, it cannot be kept away from water. In daily care, water quality management is a key point. It likes to grow in clean, clear water, so as soon as the water becomes too cloudy you should change it right away. If you are usually too busy to manage it, you can add an appropriate amount of nutrient solution to the water to keep the water fresh. As for the water used, it is recommended to use clean rainwater or river water; if neither is available, you can use tap water that has been left to stand for 1-3 days.

As for lighting, it likes sunlight, but it does not need overly harsh direct sunlight. If you grow it in an outdoor pond, you should grow more large-leafed plants along the edges to shade it. If you keep it indoors, place it in a bright spot with scattered light.
As for fertilizing, during the growing period of the one-leaf lotus, that is, from August to October, you need to regularly apply an appropriate amount of liquid fertilizer to replenish nutrients, or you can sprinkle compound fertilizer granules into the water and let them slowly dissolve and break down. But be careful not to over-fertilize, to avoid causing eutrophication of the water. Finally, regarding leaf diseases, regularly check the one-leaf lotus for any strange signs. If leaf spot disease appears, its leaves will have brown and black spots with yellow edges; the leaf spots will keep enlarging and merging, causing a fungal infection of the leaves. The way to deal with this is to promptly remove the infected diseased parts, use a fungicide to sterilize, and ensure air circulation.

Through the above methods, you can effectively ensure the healthy growth of the one-leaf lotus in a home environment. At the same time, pay attention to observing the plant's growth and changes, and adjust your care measures in time.
