I believe that friends who have bought potted plants and taken them home all hope to watch the flowers and plants they grow quickly grow up. However, some flowers and plants may wither after only a year or two of growth, simply because their lifespan is too short, which inevitably makes people feel disappointed. Today I will introduce three kinds of long-lived flowers and plants, with lifespans of at least ten years, and some can live for over a hundred years.

Osmanthus

In ancient times, osmanthus was praised by literati and scholars as the "Fairy of the Moon Palace." The ancients often described osmanthus as having a clear, elegant, and rich fragrance. Also, because "gui" (osmanthus) and "gui" (noble) are homophones, it often symbolizes wealth and good fortune, so anyone who succeeds in official career and rises swiftly to prominence is called "plucking the osmanthus."

The flowering period of osmanthus is usually in autumn, that is, around the Mid-Autumn Festival, when large numbers of golden or orange flowers bloom on the branches and release a rich fragrance, hence the saying "in the eighth month, osmanthus blooms everywhere." In terms of care, the suitable temperature is 15-28°C, and it prefers fertile, slightly acidic soil, so it is a typical southern flower. If grown in the north, pay attention to controlling soil alkalization.

Qingxiangmu (Pistacia weinmannifolia)

It is the plant most often used in literary and artistic decoration styles. Its leaves are mainly dark green. Although the leaves are relatively small, when touched by hand they feel waxy and have a strong glossy sheen. It is native to places such as Yunnan and Sichuan, and is mostly used as an indoor bonsai for ornamental viewing.

Qingxiangmu itself has a naturally faint fragrance, and this scent can also help repel mosquitoes and insects. Daily care is also relatively simple. Just follow a slightly moist approach. It can grow quickly even with less watering and less fertilizing. Its average lifespan is at least 50 years, its growth cycle is very long, and it is an evergreen plant.

Peony

Peony is the national flower of our country and is praised as the "king of a hundred flowers." After the flowers bloom, they are huge and gorgeous. Just placing one casually in a courtyard can fully display elegance and nobility. The flowering period of peony is generally from April to May. When the flowers are in full bloom, if you bring your nose close, you can smell a refreshing fragrance. At the same time, its lifespan is extremely long, and living for forty years is no problem. In terms of daily care, it likes a cool environment, and the suitable growing temperature is between 15~22 degrees. You can choose neutral sandy soil with good drainage, and for watering, just follow the rule of watering after the potting soil has dried out completely.
