How do you care for fresh-cut astilbe? First, it likes partial shade and does not like sunlight, so avoid direct sun in daily care. The bloom period is about 10 days. After bringing the fresh-cut flowers home, first cut the base at an angle, then fill a deep bucket with water and let the flowers hydrate for about three hours. After hydrating, remove excess leaves, leaving only 1~2 for display, and keep the stems clean and fresh. Finally, take a vase you like, add 1/3 water, then add a preservative or 1~2 drops of 84 disinfectant, and cut the base at an angle according to the height of the vase. After that, change the water once a day, try not to spray water directly on the flower heads, keep ventilation, and prevent exposure to strong sun.

Besides fresh-cut flowers, astilbe is also sold as potted plants in the flower market. In daily home care, note that the light must not be strong. It is recommended to place it in a bright but not directly lit spot, such as near a north-facing or east-facing window.

The watering principle is to keep the soil moist. Astilbe likes moisture, and during its vigorous growth period and flowering period, it needs additional misting with a spray bottle on the plant and around it to increase humidity. For the soil, you can choose a loose, well-drained acidic or slightly acidic soil. If you want to increase drainage, you can mix in peat soil and perlite.

Finally, fertilizing: during spring growth, apply some all-purpose fertilizer, such as decomposed compost or slow-release fertilizer, and before the flowering period add one more application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud differentiation. After each flowering period ends, promptly cut off the faded flower spikes to benefit the next round of growth. With its graceful posture and shade tolerance, astilbe is an ideal choice for home greenery. With only proper care, it can create a quiet and elegant little world at home.
