Should you keep forget-me-nots in water or not, and can dried flowers be exposed to sunlight?
Today let's talk about a small and delicate flower - the forget-me-not. Its name carries deep emotional meaning, representing promise and loyalty, and its flower language is an unchanging heart. Its colors are also very pleasing to the eye, including light purple, pink, and so on.
Generally speaking, forget-me-nots can be sold by weight (jin) at the fresh flower market in Yunnan, making them a very suitable flower for beginners to grow. After buying a big bunch from the flower market, you can choose to make it into dried flowers or use it as a fresh cut flower. If you want to make dried flowers, you can use the hanging method. After bringing them home, there is no need to revive the flowers; just hang them on a clothes rack in a cool, ventilated place to dry. The method is to clip them one by one. During drying, avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. After about a week of drying, you can see that the stems have changed from emerald green to yellow-green, which means the dried flower process is complete. Dried flowers made this way can last for one to two years.
So, if you choose fresh cut flowers, then you need to remove all the leaves, because if the leaves are not fully removed, they will rot when soaked in water. Take a vase you like, add a small amount of water, and you can also add some nutrient solution. Then hold the flowers in your hand using a spiral technique, upper left and lower right, and the middle can be a bit higher to create a sense of layering. Change the water about every three days, keep it ventilated, and this way they can last about a month and a half.
Forget-me-nots have a relatively long flowering period, and their blooming season is spring. If you choose a potted plant, then when caring for forget-me-nots at home in daily life, you can pay attention to giving it more sunlight. It is recommended to place it by a south-facing or east-facing window at home. As for the soil, you can add some perlite or leaf mold to loose soil to improve the soil structure.
As for watering, forget-me-nots do not have high water requirements and do not like overly moist soil, so usually just water according to the principle of "rather dry than wet," and avoid placing it in places directly exposed to heating or air-conditioning vents.
Finally, if you find withered flower spikes after the flowering period, cut them off in time. Doing so can extend the ornamental period and promote the formation of new flower buds.
