Small potted green plants are easy to care for and look great; which varieties are suitable for growing in small flower pots?
Friends who keep 1-2 pots of flowering plants at home will surely wonder why changing the flower pot affects the flowers' growth. How should flower lovers who usually grow orchids, kalanchoe, cactus globes, and Christmas cacti choose flower pots? Read on below to find out.
As we all know, there are many types of flower pots on the market, including clay, tile pots, purple clay and other materials, as well as flower pots that differ in size, depth and other capacities. Therefore, when choosing, you select according to different plant varieties, and you can also combine the suggestions of the flower stall owner when buying.
Orchids

Orchid varieties include Cymbidium goeringii, Cymbidium ensifolium, Cymbidium sinense, Phalaenopsis and so on. As long as they are plants of the orchid type mentioned above, none of them are suitable for growing in large pots, because orchid plants have fleshy roots, so they do not need too much soil space. When choosing, it is best to pick a pot whose mouth diameter is smaller than the pot depth. Regarding repotting, note that you should stop watering for 3-5 days before repotting, and try to keep the potting medium at 70-80% dry before repotting; do not repot with wet medium.
Kalanchoe
Kalanchoe is one of the flowers many families choose to grow. Its root system is mainly fibrous roots, and the roots are not very developed, so the flower pot does not need to be too large. It is recommended to choose a small pot for planting, which can limit excessive root expansion and prevent the roots from becoming too crowded and rotting. In addition, kalanchoe is quite prone to leggy stems and leaves, so if you do not artificially control it by planting in a small pot, the kalanchoe roots will keep growing downward and around, so that later the branches and leaves will divert nutrients into leaf growth, causing many of its flowers to fail to open normally.
Cactus globe

The cactus globe is a desert plant, and its flower shape is relatively short, plump and round, so it is suitable for growing in a small, shallow pot. At the same time, because a small pot has a small soil volume, water evaporates quickly, which suits drought-tolerant plants that do not need large amounts of water and can prevent root rot caused by overwatering. Regarding repotting, note that the cactus globe is covered in spines, so flower lovers should put on gloves and prepare tweezers before repotting, and it is best to do it during the daytime, taking care to avoid injury.
