Is the sun flower a sunflower? Teaching you to tell the difference between the two
Today let's talk about sunflowers and sun flowers, which are always lumped together. Many people think they are one kind of flower, but in fact they are two different flowers. Today I will teach everyone how to tell these two flowers apart.
First, let's talk about the sunflower. Its name comes from its tracking of sunlight; its flowers turn with the sun's position from east to west, and this is also its most distinctive feature. The sunflower's blooming period is roughly the whole summer. It belongs to the genus Helianthus in the Asteraceae family. In sunflower fields, it counts as a giant among Asteraceae plants, growing very tall and sturdy, with white coarse hairs on the flower stalk, and its leaves take on a heart-like shape. The tubular flowers in the middle of the flower disc can be pollinated, and if they develop into fruit, they become what we know as sunflower seeds. In addition, the sunflower's flower language is courage and faith, suitable for giving to classmates who are about to graduate.
Next is the sun flower. Its actual name is the African daisy (Gerbera), a variety originating from Africa. Its growth habits actually have nothing to do with the sun at all; it is purely because it looks like the sun that it is called the sun flower. It belongs to the genus Gerbera in the Asteraceae family and is a perennial herbaceous plant. Looking closely at the flower shape, it comes in various colors, and its petals are relatively slender ligulate flowers, resembling a feather shape. Because its overall genes make it relatively slender, the fuzz on its stalk is not as coarse as the sunflower's, and its leaves are jagged in shape, growing closer to the ground. In addition, the sun flower's flower language is eternal happiness, steadfast mutual love, perseverance, and so on. It symbolizes a blessing that lights up your rich life, and it can likewise be given to classmates in graduation season.

Overall, as long as the sunflower and the sun flower are placed together at the same time, they can actually be recognized at a glance. But if you look at them separately, you can look at the black part of the tubular flowers in their centers. In the sun flower, the inside is relatively small and has a sunken feeling, while the sunflower is characterized by relatively wide yellow petals and a brown flower disc. In terms of distinguishing by petals, the sun flower's petals are relatively slender and long, the flower color may be red or orange, and its size is smaller. Another part, of course, is their stems. The sunflower's stem is very thick and sturdy, while the sun flower's is a bit more ethereal.
