As everyone knows, among the flowers in nature, blue-toned floral materials are very rare. Today I'm sharing a "blue star flower" with unique blue blooms, which some flower shops also call "Cui Lu Li" (Ruellia simplex, Mexican petunia). Generally speaking, from late spring to early autumn, blue star flower is easy to find in flower markets. It is a herbaceous plant native to South America, and the ornamental period of fresh cut flowers can reach about 15 days. After the flowers bloom, they are very small and lovely, with petals layered one upon another, looking like an azure starry sky, and they are mostly used as filler flowers.

So how do you care for fresh cut floral materials in daily life? First, blue star flower's leaves and roots will release a white sap, so when pruning, be careful to wear gloves to avoid the sap causing skin allergies. Then, after cutting the roots, you can rinse them in a cup of warm water for about 20 seconds before putting them in deep water to revive the flowers. The revival time can be about 2 to 3 hours. After the floral materials have revived, we still need to wear gloves to start tidying the leaves. Generally, just leave a small number of ornamental leaves; remove all the rest. Finally, choose a vase you like, add 1/2 water, hold the flowers in your hand, and cut the roots at an angle according to the height of the vase. Note one thing here: because each time you cut the roots at an angle, sap will flow out, and this white sap does not dissolve in cold water, so after cutting, quickly wash and brush them in warm water for about 20 seconds, then take them out. After brushing, wipe this liquid clean with a paper towel before putting them into the vase. In summer, change the water once a day, wash the vase each time, and just keep it ventilated.

For flower lovers who like growing potted plants, the key points for caring for blue star flower are very simple. It is relatively drought-tolerant and likes well-drained soil, so there is no need to water too much in daily care; "see light, see moisture" is suitable. The placement can be chosen by a balcony or window, because it is not afraid of sun exposure, but if it encounters hot high temperatures above 35 degrees, then be careful to avoid sun exposure. Finally, to grow it well, fertilizing cannot be omitted. In its vigorous growth season, a moderate amount of compound fertilizer can be applied to ensure nutrient supply.

Overall, as long as you give appropriate light, water and fertilizer, blue star flower can thrive at home and add a bright touch of color to the home.
