Is the Three-Color Bird Phalaenopsis a large-flowered or small-flowered orchid? Care methods and precautions
There are many varieties of Phalaenopsis. Today I will introduce a Phalaenopsis variety called Three-Color Bird, also known as Rainbow Butterfly Orchid. It belongs to the small-to-medium flower type, and the flower colors are made up of yellow, deep red, and light pink. The petals are formed by several pieces accented with vertical stripes. During care, it easily produces multiple flower spikes. For beginners who have just started growing Phalaenopsis, Three-Color Bird is very easy to keep alive. At the same time, its flowering period is also long, and it has high ornamental value.
In terms of daily care, Three-Color Bird likes to live in a warm environment, and the optimal growth temperature is around 18°C-28°C. In terms of light, although Phalaenopsis is relatively shade-tolerant, it also has a certain demand for light. Especially when the flower buds have not yet opened, light is needed. It is recommended to provide about 2 hours of light per day, which is beneficial for the opening of the flower buds. In terms of soil requirements for Phalaenopsis, it is recommended to choose soil with good permeability for planting, because the roots of Phalaenopsis are easily affected by moisture. If the permeability is poor, it is very easy for Phalaenopsis to develop root rot. Some leaf mold, moss, or bark can be used as the medium for planting.

Watering is also something to pay attention to. In spring and autumn, when growing Phalaenopsis, you do not need to water too frequently. It is generally recommended to water once every 3 to 4 days. Or you can observe the soil in the pot. If the soil shows signs of drying, then you can water it at that time. However, it should be noted that too much water should not be given, because watering too much can easily cause root rot in Phalaenopsis, thereby affecting the growth of Phalaenopsis.

Of course, to grow Phalaenopsis well, in addition to the details above, pruning is equally important. After the flowers of Phalaenopsis fade, proper pruning can be carried out, which helps avoid the loss of nutrients in Phalaenopsis and also helps it produce better flowers the following year. As for the cutting method, you can refer to pruning the flower stem from the base position, keeping only the main stem part.
