The petals of "Hagen-Dazs" have a slightly bumpy, waxy feel. The base color of the petals is almost white with a tiny hint of pink, and the petals have a shimmering edge along with fine silvery threads, which together look especially lively. It also has an orange lip with a pink tip. In addition, the leaf edges also carry a shimmer, each leaf stiff and thick. The overall look is like an artificial flower - very neat, very bright, and very ethereal.

However, aside from its beauty being its greatest advantage, the "Hagen-Dazs" Phalaenopsis is rather delicate when it comes to care, because any Phalaenopsis variety with a shimmering edge is extremely prone to viral problems on its leaves. It is precisely the virus that caused this shimmering-edge mutation. Of course, it is very beautiful, but this also indicates that the virus content in the plant body is slightly higher, so it needs more meticulous care than other flowers. How to grow it?

First, it is less tolerant of sun and heat than others. If summer temperatures get especially high, the light intensity should be reduced accordingly. Placing it in an environment of about 5000-7000 lux would be more suitable; otherwise, the virus is prone to outbreak, and a large-scale viral outbreak may cause it to die. If the temperature is low, then exposure to sun is fine. Also, this variety is not particularly floriferous. For example, for a 3-inch pot of "Hagen-Dazs," the flower count is only about 6-8 blooms. So if the one you have does not bloom especially profusely, you should be understanding of this variety's characteristics.

Advice for beginners: The "Hagen-Dazs" Phalaenopsis is relatively difficult to care for. Beginners are not advised to choose stem seedlings to grow. When purchasing, choose at least a mature plant of around 2.5-2.8. "Mature" means choosing one whose roots have already filled the pot cup - that is what counts as mature, not how much the flowers have opened.
