The annual Mother's Day has arrived again, and the most popular fresh flowers on the flower market are, as in previous years, carnations, roses, peonies and other floral materials. It is understood that this year's best-selling color range for Mother's Day is pink, and prices have also risen accordingly. A bunch of carnations that usually costs over 20 yuan went up to over 50 yuan for Mother's Day, but they still sold out first.

Carnations have long been known as the mother's flower, and their flower language is warm and great love. The blooms are relatively large and the flowering period is long, and with so many new carnation varieties now, they are truly very beautiful. So after receiving flowers on Mother's Day, how should you care for them?

Step 1: After receiving the fresh flowers, cut open the packaging and trim about 2-3 cun from the base of the stems to increase the water-absorbing area.

Step 2: Take out a flower revival bucket and revive the flowers in deep water for about 1-2 hours.

Step 3: After the flowers have revived, remove the excess leaves. Carnation leaves are different from those of other flowers; every joint has a flower, so when trimming you must gently peel them off. It is recommended to use the ring-peeling method, and be sure to peel them clean, because if the base is not peeled clean, it is prone to breeding bacteria when soaked in water. Be very careful when peeling, because the stems of carnations are very brittle and can break with a careless move. In the end, about one or two leaves per stem can be kept.

Step 4: Check the flower heads. If you find any with broken heads, yellowing, or rot, remove them.

Step 5: Find a vase and keep them in shallow water. The amount of water does not need to be much (about 5-20 cm of water is suitable); it only needs to just cover the base of the stems.

Step 6: Using a spiral technique, adjust the flower heads so they are aligned from upper left to lower right, then trim the stems at a 45-degree angle according to the height of the vase (be careful to avoid the stem nodes). Following the above steps, the flowers can be arranged well.

Step 7: For watering, change the water once every 2 to 3 days and avoid direct sunlight. Carnations actually bloom very easily, and their flowering period is super long.
