Taiwan's Largest Post-Pandemic Exhibition TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 Forms First-Ever Alliance, Industry Leaders Show Up in Support
(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Chen Mingzong) The TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 joint exhibition, the first-ever alliance between Taiwan's two major machine tool shows, will be grandly held from February 21 to 26, (2022) at Halls 1 and 2 of Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, with more than 900 exhibitors using 5,200 booths. It is the largest exhibition in Taiwan since the COVID-19 pandemic and the biggest event for the global machine tool industry in early 2022. The exhibition has already entered an intensive preparation stage.
At the global press conference hosted by the International Trade Administration of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by TAITRA, TAITRA Chairman Huang Chih-fang, Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry Chairman Wei Tsan-wen, and Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association Chairman Hsu Wen-hsien, together with leading industry enterprises and benchmark exhibitors Fair Friend Group President Chu Chih-yang and Tongtai Group Chairman Yen Jui-hsiung, jointly held a leadership panel on "The New Post-Pandemic Era: Smart Upgrading of the Machine Tool Industry," attracting online attention from more than 1,000 media representatives and buyers worldwide. Amid an atmosphere of continued export growth and recovery in Taiwan's machine tool industry this year, TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 will release the industry's accumulated energy since the pandemic and meet the latest demand for equipment procurement from all sectors.
TAITRA Chairman Huang Chih-fang stated that Taiwan's flexible and rapid machine tool supply chain occupies an important position in the global industrial chain. Combined with Taiwan's core ICT technologies, it provides the best solutions for end users of equipment worldwide. The TIMTOS x TMTS joint exhibition will bring together Taiwan's golden lineup in smart manufacturing and its R&D achievements toward advanced manufacturing.
Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry Chairman Wei Tsan-wen pointed out that the pandemic has led countries around the world to recognize the importance of building strategically autonomous supply chains. International trends such as regional manufacturing deployment harbor new opportunities for machine tool and component manufacturers, and he expressed high expectations for the new atmosphere that TIMTOS x TMTS will bring. Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders' Association Chairman Hsu Wen-hsien stated that machine tools must continue to develop toward intelligence and higher added value, promoting SaaS and unified interface specifications and standards. He noted that this joint exhibition, like industry cooperation in fighting the pandemic, uses unity to let the world see Taiwan.
In addition, facing the opportunities and challenges brought to the global machine tool supply chain by emerging industries such as electric vehicles, Fair Friend Group President Chu Chih-yang shared international deployment strategies and mentioned that large automakers in the European market are successively placing EV demand orders, with end-user demand in the semiconductor, green energy, and medical industries particularly worth anticipating next year. Tongtai Group Chairman Yen Jui-hsiung shared how to meet challenges with resilience and flexibility in the face of emerging industries, such as the future trend of EVs replacing steel components with large aluminum alloy die-cast parts, and noted that growth demand for aluminum alloy processing deserves attention. In addition to Fair Friend and Tongtai, leading domestic and international manufacturers such as HIWIN, Yintai, Taichung Precision Machinery, Yinglin, Shinwu, Kao Feng, Ching Hung, Fanuc, MAZAK, Tongtai, Youji, Takizawa, Yung Chin, Chuangpu, Delta Electronics, Mitsubishi, and Siemens will all devote their full efforts to the TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 exhibition.
Following the semiconductor and panel industries, Taiwan's machinery industry has become Taiwan's third trillion-NT-dollar industry. From January to October 2021, Taiwan's cumulative machine tool export value was 2.245 billion USD, a strong growth of 27.6% compared with the same period in 2020. As international vaccination rates rise and the pandemic subsides, driving demand, Taiwan's machine tool performance is expected to continue posting gains and reach new highs. In response to border controls, the organizers of TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 will plan multiple remote online services and activities alongside the exhibition, including an On-site Guide for Online Visitors, exhibition Live Tour, new product launch Live Stage, cloud-based displays, and online procurement matchmaking meetings, helping exhibitors seize overseas business opportunities.
