National Fitness Trend Rises as New Taipei Partners with the Industrial Development Bureau to Hold a Sports Industry Expo

(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Sun Yao-chang) The national fitness trend is gradually rising, and the "2021 New Taipei City Sports Industry Expo" will officially debut on October 19 at the Hilton Taipei Sinban. With "Sports and Technology" as the main axis, industry trend application forums will be held across three dimensions: "Virtual LOHAS for Health," "Smart Textiles for Economic Momentum," and "Active Aging for Re-energized Living." Renowned motion-sensing technology and smart sports equipment manufacturers are invited to showcase their latest technologies. Starting September 24, a partnership with the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs will launch the "New Modern Pentathlon Tech Sports Meet." The public who enjoy tech experiences or love sports are welcome to participate enthusiastically.

Director-General Ho Yi-ming of the Economic Development Department stated that this year New Taipei City is focusing on the issue of "sports economy," which is one of its important policy blueprints. In response to this year's National Games being held in New Taipei, the city is actively developing the sports technology industry and has launched the 2021 New Taipei Sports Economy Quartet. The first installment was the "Asian Esports Open" from July 10 to September 6, which accumulated a total of 6.5 million online views.

The second installment was the "New Taipei International Procurement Matchmaking Meeting," held continuously for 2 days from September 7 to 8, which facilitated business opportunities worth up to 1.9 billion yuan through video matchmaking sessions; the third installment is the "New Modern Pentathlon Tech Sports Meet" jointly organized by New Taipei City and the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, running from September 24 to October 31. The regional qualifying rankings began on September 24, and the public can experience it at the New Taipei City Sanchong, Linkou, Xindian, and Tucheng Sports Centers and the Taroko Tucheng venue. In the three days since the event started, 175 people have already participated in the experience, and the public is welcome to sign up enthusiastically; the final fourth installment is the "New Taipei City Sports Industry Expo," which will grandly debut on October 19.

The "New Taipei City Sports Industry Expo" can be divided into an exhibition experience area and a trend forum area. For the experience area, HTC VIVE, Brogent Technologies, Jun Tai Sports Technology, Eclat Textile, Johnson Health Tech, and selected manufacturers from the "New Modern Pentathlon Tech Sports Meet" are invited, with a total of 10 sports and motion-sensing technology companies participating in interactive exhibitions; for the trend forum, New Taipei highlight enterprises are invited to share successful transformation experiences in industries such as 5G/VR cross-domain integrated applications, smart textiles, and the integration of medical equipment with IoT technology.
