2020 Yunlin County Local SBIR R&D Results Shine Bright: Innovation and Creativity Transform Traditional Industries

Yunlin County - Yesterday (the 5th) at 10 a.m., the "2020 Yunlin County Local Industry Innovation R&D Promotion Program (Local SBIR) Results Presentation" was held in the Public Service Hall on the first floor of the County Government, opening amid the melodious music of the Dounan Elementary School String Orchestra. County Magistrate Chang Li-shan, Industry Development and Investment Promotion Committee Director-General Hsu Yu-chen, Construction Department Director Li Chun-hsing, and representatives from the incubation centers of National Yunlin University of Science and Technology and National Formosa University, along with many manufacturers participating in SBIR, attended the event. The venue was packed with attendees, and Yunlin's small and medium-sized enterprises showcased innovation and creativity, with several novel products making their debut. The event was lively and highly engaging.

County Magistrate Chang Li-shan stated that Yunlin County has now entered its 14th year of implementing the Local SBIR Program in 2021. Despite the county government's tight finances, it continues to promote industrial upgrading and transformation policies, and the Local SBIR is the best example. In this year's 2020 results exhibition, a total of 20 manufacturers, including Jiwu Trading Co., received guidance, with outstanding R&D results. Nine were subsidized in the agricultural and agricultural product processing category, 7 in cultural and creative industries, 3 in precision machinery, and 1 in textiles. Each project is highly eye-catching: some businesses used Taiwan tilapia to make soy sauce, used black beans and coffee husks to make cosmetics, and even pioneered printing photos on cakes. The ingenuity of these businesses has created new blue oceans for industry, with innovation increasing the added value of products, leading peers in the industry, and making them the deciders of price and value.

Construction Department Director Li Chun-hsing also stated that the continuous promotion of the Local SBIR for 14 consecutive years has taken root and flourished in Yunlin, becoming the highest-quality platform for R&D and innovation for Yunlin manufacturers. This year at the results exhibition, we for the first time also recognized products that have won awards in past Local SBIR programs, including the National Brand Yushan Award, the Food Innovation Award, the OTOP Design Award, and Rural Good Products, among others. Yunlin Local SBIR products are synonymous with Yunlin Excellent Products in Yunlin, and nationwide they are a guarantee of quality. We look forward to more Yunlin small and medium-sized enterprises joining the ranks of innovative R&D, as only continuous innovation can enable enterprises to achieve sustainable development, transform, and create new business opportunities for industry.
