The first-ever landmark event organized by the Taiwan Garment Industry Association with the integrated strength of seven major industry associations/councils was held on March 25 at the Nangang Exhibition Hall, hosting the "Smart Textile Living Forum" to drive the development of smart fashion technology in Taiwan, China

(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Zhu Zhu) Driven by innovative technologies such as 5G, smart connectivity, and artificial intelligence, global ICT giants and textile manufacturers have begun to invest in and plan the development of fashion technology and smart textiles, especially as the application value of smart, health, leisure, and sustainability continues to gain attention, and the future forms of textile products will also become more diversified to meet consumer expectations under different usage scenarios.

Lin Jui-yueh, Chairman of the Taiwan Garment Industry Association and the Taiwan Smart Textile Association, who is also the convener of the Taiwan Fashion Technology Textile Alliance, stated that smart textiles are a field particularly worthy of attention in smart living scenarios. By using conductive fibers and textile craftsmanship to embed various sensors and AI chips into textiles, users can wear smart textiles that communicate with their surrounding environment and devices on demand in different scenarios such as medical care, outdoor sports, technological rehabilitation, safety protection, and entertainment. The systematic solutions thus formed can, in the future, be refined through product and service development in demonstration sites of smart cities to develop business models, and are expected to be marketed globally through turnkey exports.

Therefore, for the first time, seven major domestic associations and the Taiwan Textile Research Institute jointly organized the "Smart Textile Living Forum" on March 25 at Meeting Room 701G, Hall 2 of the Nangang Exhibition Hall, alongside the Smart City Summit & Expo, simultaneously holding the "Smart Textile Presentation and Product Exhibition," with the themes of "Tech Sports, Smart Leisure, Smart Care, and Living Protection." Through dynamic displays and interactive experiences, Taiwan's soft power and hard power in the smart textile industry were showcased to all sectors. This occasion was also used to seek entry into the Qingpu Asia Silicon Valley Innovation R&D Center from the Taoyuan City- government, hoping to drive the development of smart fashion technology in Taiwan, China through the collective innovative strength of the industry.

Lin Jui-yueh, Chairman of the Taiwan Garment Industry Association, pointed out that this event will help all sectors understand the current applications and development prospects of technological textiles and get a glimpse of Taiwan's strength in fashion technology and the smart textile industry. The Smart Textile Living Forum, scheduled to be held on the morning of March 25, 2021 (Thursday), will take "Smart Textiles, Smart Living" as its theme, introducing Taiwan's soft power and hard power in the smart textile industry to all sectors through speeches, dynamic displays, and interactive experience activities. Together, participants will witness Taiwan moving toward the vision of a textile Silicon Valley.
