Upgrading cold chain technology to overcome long-distance transport: Taitung's 10-ton pineapple sugar apples on maiden voyage to Dubai

"Dubai, here we come - we are going global!" Taitung has introduced Japanese cold chain technology to overcome long-distance transport issues. Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling announced on the morning of the 17th at the Taitung Farmers' Association export packaging facility that 10 tons of Taitung pineapple sugar apples will for the first time be commercially shipped by sea to Dubai, with arrival expected on April 4. The magistrate also urged farmers to do a good job in field management and biological control, maintain quality, and noted that future sales to anywhere in the world would be no problem. She also announced that the county government will subsidize sugar apple production and marketing groups in purchasing air compressors to control scale insects, with up to 7,000 yuan available per unit, and encouraged everyone to apply.

County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling pointed out, "Taitung's vision is to go global!" Over the two years since taking office, she has been firmly advancing toward this goal. Even though the pandemic delayed some schedules, efforts behind the scenes have never stopped. Taitung pineapple sugar apples are sweet and juicy and are a national-level fruit of Taiwan. In order to let more people taste them, advanced cold chain technology from Japan's Daikin has been specially introduced, combined with Yang Ming Marine Transport's superb shipping quality. The "Taitung National Team's" high-quality guaranteed agricultural products are ready and about to set off. This is the first time Taitung pineapple sugar apples will be transported commercially by sea. On the 19th they will sail directly from Taiwan to Dubai, and are expected to arrive in 14 days.

In addition, the Taitung County Agriculture Department reminds that any registered custard apple (big-eyed sugar apple, pineapple sugar apple) production and marketing group or cooperative in the county may directly apply to their local farmers' association to purchase new air compressors, with subsidies based on one-third of the sale price, up to 7,000 yuan per unit. The application period runs from now until August 31 of this year.
