(Taiwan TB News Network / Reporter Chen Yi-cheng) The South Korean media group Daily Sports Korea recently made a special trip south to interview Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che, and the content of the exclusive interview has recently appeared in the group's media outlets one after another. In the eyes of the South Korean media, Mayor Huang Wei-che, with his decisive decision-making, administrative efficiency and vision in promoting plans, is the driving force behind Tainan's transformation from a 400-year-old historic cultural capital into a global high-tech powerhouse in semiconductors and other fields. Through this detailed report, Mayor Huang Wei-che introduced the people of South Korea to Tainan's past, present and future, successfully marketing Tainan.

In the South Korean media exclusive interview, it described the course of Mayor Huang Wei-che's decision to decisively switch Tainan City's New Year's Eve party to an online livestream, based on prioritizing epidemic prevention after learning from the painful lessons of the past SARS outbreak, and further introduced his appropriate response in the early stages of the epidemic in health education advocacy, epidemic prevention supplies and industrial relief, which kept Tainan's number of confirmed cases consistently the lowest among the six special municipalities, while also achieving the best result in Taiwan with an epidemic prevention satisfaction rate as high as 90 percent.

This exclusive interview detailed Huang Wei-che's high efficiency and outstanding results in promoting Tainan's economic growth, and introduced to South Korean readers how TSMC's advanced technology investment in Tainan produced a magnetic effect, attracting ASML's EUV Global Technology Training Center, Google's data center and as many as 80 semiconductor-related industries to settle in Tainan, making Tainan a current global powerhouse in advanced semiconductor processes and technology.

In the exclusive interview, Mayor Huang Wei-che also listed one by one Tainan's development advantages in aspects such as the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City, the solar photovoltaic industry, traditional hidden champion industries, and new AI technology.

He believes that the key to Tainan attracting so much major investment lies in the city government's strong willingness to attract investment, highly efficient administrative coordination and dedication to simplifying procedures, and from the perspective of the South Korean media, Mayor Huang's strong record in attracting investment has been concretely reflected in Tainan having the lowest unemployment rate and the highest labor force participation rate among the six special municipalities.

On the other hand, this exclusive interview also introduced the diverse, high-quality agricultural products produced and marketed by Tainan, an important agricultural hub, and further mentioned how Mayor Huang recently quickly reduced the impact after China terminated imports of Taiwan pineapples by expanding domestic consumption, promoting processed products and mutual support with other production areas.

On city diplomacy and marketing, Huang Wei-che expressed his expectation for further exchanges between Tainan and its sister city Gwangju Metropolitan City in smart cities, industry, economy and culture, and he also invited, on behalf of the city government, South Korean variety shows to film more in Tainan, hoping to boost South Korean tourists' visits to Tainan, while also hoping to serve as a driving force for Taiwan-South Korea exchanges.
