Toward the universe! Space Development Act draft passed, Kaohsiung's aerospace industry outlook is bullish

Space topics have been hot recently, whether it is the US "Perseverance" rover, driven by Taiwanese-American engineer Yen Cheng, landing on Mars, or Japanese astronaut Soichi Noguchi taking beautiful photos of southern Taiwan, both have sparked heated discussions online. Recently, the Executive Yuan passed the draft "Space Development Act," further declaring Taiwan's determination to connect with the world and move toward the universe. Liao Tai-hsiang, director-general of the Kaohsiung City Economic Development Bureau, also pointed out that Kaohsiung is Taiwan's aerospace heavyweight, with an annual output value of nearly 40 billion yuan, accounting for one-third of Taiwan's total. The Economic Development Bureau not only helped 58 company instances obtain NADCAP international certification, the most in Taiwan, but last year also signed an MOU with the US Performance Review Institute (PRI). With the passage of our country's space draft today, Kaohsiung will absolutely not be absent. In the future, the Economic Development Bureau will lead the Kaohsiung aerospace team to connect with the central government and enter the global market, actively matching aerospace scientific research cooperation, and launch Taiwan's national strength into space.

Liao Tai-hsiang, director-general of the Kaohsiung City Economic Development Bureau, said that Kaohsiung currently has 22 aerospace manufacturers with an annual output value of 40 billion yuan, accounting for one-third of Taiwan's total, mainly focused on interior maintenance, fuselage and engine components, and landing gear. Although the pandemic last year caused global aerospace manufacturers' shipments to drop sharply, the Economic Development Bureau still actively held the "Precision Machining Industry Trends and Business Opportunities" seminar, widely inviting operators such as the National Space Center, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation, Gongzhun, Chunyu, Sheng Tian, Yingming, Jinhe, Rongsheng, Jiaming, Changheng, and Antuo, focusing on cooperation in the development of low-orbit satellite and orbital industries. It will continue to maintain close contact with the Space Center and Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation regarding product trial business opportunities, building Kaohsiung into an important supply base for the global aerospace industry.

The Kaohsiung City Economic Development Bureau said that Taiwan's aerospace strength is constantly being showcased globally, and Kaohsiung has long since become part of the global space industry supply chain. For example, Gongzhun Precision, which has been rooted in Kaohsiung for 43 years, began by focusing on precision mold design and process development, and has now obtained certifications from world-class manufacturers in aerospace, semiconductors, panels, energy, and other fields. It is also a member of the foreign giant SpaceX's Starlink project. In the future, the Economic Development Bureau will lead the Kaohsiung aerospace team to connect with the central government and enter the global market, actively matching aerospace scientific research cooperation, and launch Taiwan's national strength into space.
