Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je vows to complete the Circular Line and Wanda Line in 15 years

On the 19th, Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je attended the "Taipei MRT Wanda Line CQ850 Section Contract Shield Machine Launch Ceremony" to encourage his colleagues, and at the same time launched the first shield machine to be deployed at the station. Mayor Ko Wen-je said he was very honored, in the first week of starting work in the new spring, to come to the shield machine launch ceremony at Yonghe Yongping Elementary School Station on the MRT Wanda Line, and he especially wanted to thank his colleagues at the MRT Bureau for their 30 years of effort in building the MRT system for the entire capital living circle.

Mayor Ko Wen-je explained that Yongping Elementary School Station is the largest station on the entire MRT Wanda Line, and standing on site one can feel the station's enormous scale and grandeur. This building, with 9 underground levels, will also have 6 light and ventilation shafts after completion, bringing sunlight and air in from above, making it a rather difficult project. Mayor Ko Wen-je added that the current progress of the entire MRT Wanda Line project has reached about 50%; phase 2 of the MRT Wanda Line project will also continue to be tendered this year, and after completion it will connect at Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall Station with the Tamsui-Xinyi Line and the Songshan-Xindian Line, becoming a convergence point of 3 lines. Mayor Ko Wen-je emphasized that the MRT Wanda Line will link the Wanhua, Zhonghe, Tucheng and Shulin areas, and will also connect to the Taoyuan MRT Brown Line, making it a very important transportation route.

Regarding transportation in the capital living circle, Mayor Ko Wen-je said that this living circle is not only for serving Taipei residents; about 58% of users of the 1280 yuan periodic ticket are New Taipei residents, and phase 1 of the Wanda Line is expected to be completed in 2025. The most important thing this year is the start of construction on the northern and southern sections of the Circular Line, while for the eastern section negotiations with the Ministry of Transportation are underway to catch up as quickly as possible. Mayor Ko Wen-je emphasized at the end that the completion of the Circular Line and the Wanda Line in the next 15 years is the most important task for the entire Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, and he once again thanked his colleagues at the MRT Bureau.
