Taitung County's Liyu Mountain "turns over" a new leaf, aiming to create a leisure and recreation area

To improve the traffic bottlenecks around the front and rear of Liyu Mountain in Taitung City and the area around the Taitung Sports Stadium, and to provide the public with the highest-quality recreation and leisure area, Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling has been committed to transforming the surrounding environment of Liyu Mountain since taking office. After more than 2 years of planning, NT$340 million was allocated, of which NT$31.5 million was borne by the county itself, to promote 8 major renovation and construction plans. As the Year of the Ox approaches, Liyu Mountain is presenting a brand-new appearance.

On the 19th, Magistrate Rao Ching-ling, together with Taitung City Mayor Chang Kuo-chou, Donghai Village Chief Chen Ying, County Government Construction Department Director Hsu Jui-kuei and colleagues, conducted an on-foot field inspection of the results of the "Taitung Eye" project, the "Liyu Mountain Lane New Construction Project" and the "Taitung Park Connecting Road Improvement Project" and other construction projects around Liyu Mountain, and listened to briefings on operations from Construction Department Director Hsu, Civil Engineering Section Chief Liu Ta-kuei, Urban and Rural Environmental Engineering Section Chief Chen Cheng-lung and others. Afterwards, they also listened to a project explanation by architect Chung Sheng-yuan at the soon-to-be-completed new office building of the Taitung Police Precinct.

After the inspection, Magistrate Rao Ching-ling expressed satisfaction with the project progress and said that Liyu Mountain is located in the center of Taitung City, and the surrounding area is like the center of residents' life and recreation. Since taking office, she has been committed to transforming the surrounding environment of Liyu Mountain. Promoting the Taitung Eye (improvement of the surrounding environment of the sports venue) on a vast 13-hectare area of land is intended to open up the overall environment near Liyu Mountain and the sports stadium (venue), forming an open plaza that is more convenient for county residents to use. She thanked the city office, the county farmers' association and other units for their cooperation and assistance, which has made the overall space of Liyu Mountain, Guilin North Road and the old Taitung Park area more open and given the public a more comfortable living environment. The Taitung Precinct of the Taitung County Police Bureau is about to be completed in February, and it is hoped that police colleagues can have a safer and more secure working environment, enhance their duty capacity, and strengthen their ability to maintain public order. In the future, efforts will be made to integrate construction into life so that people's lives can be better.
