Dounan Interchange Specific District Industrial Zone Fosters Smart Food Processing and Warehousing Park
National Highway No. 1 Zhongshan Freeway opened a new era for Taiwan's transportation and industrial development, and among its interchanges, Dounan Interchange plays one of the key roles as a hub for regional development. Yunlin County is actively promoting the Dounan Interchange Specific District Industrial Zone, which will be developed in phases and stages under the urban plan, fostering a smart, technology-driven food processing and warehousing logistics park. After development, it is expected to create 18,000 job opportunities.
Yunlin County Magistrate Chang Li-shan pointed out that promoting the development of industrial zones to advance industrial growth is an important policy for reversing the difficulties of local development. In addition to the central government's support for industrial development plans, Yunlin County is moving toward actively developing industrial land on its own. With a concept of advanced deployment, it has selected important locations for land development to attract industry investment and the gathering of employment population, thereby promoting balanced regional development. The development of the Dounan Interchange Specific District Industrial Zone is one example.
Magistrate Chang Li-shan stated that Yunlin County has selected an area within the Dounan Interchange Specific District, bordered on the east by Provincial Highway 1 Yanping North Road, on the west by County Road Yun 71 Zhongxi Road, on the south by County Road 158 Daye Road, and on the north by the planned boundary of the Zhongshan Freeway Dounan Interchange Specific District. It is planned to develop 540.9 hectares in phases and stages. The entire project has entered the preliminary planning stage, moving toward fostering a smart, technology-driven food processing and warehousing logistics park, which is expected to create 18,000 job opportunities and will open up new development for the Dounan area.
The Construction Department stated that, based on a questionnaire survey on the development of the Dounan Interchange Specific District Industrial Park and the consolidation of opinions from all parties, the development directions will include a smart agriculture technology research and development zone planned with technological innovation, a processing zone to increase the added value of agricultural products, a modern warehousing and logistics zone to increase diverse domestic and export sales channels for agricultural products, and a smart agriculture experimental field, among others.
