Technical measures for snow resistance, freeze protection and post-snow management of forest specialty seedlings and flowers

In the recent period, continuous low temperatures, rain and snow have caused disastrous weather, resulting in damage to some forest specialty seedlings and flowers. According to incomplete statistics, the losses of seedlings and flowers have reached 25 million yuan. In response to the current severe weather, in order to minimize the losses caused by rain, snow and low-temperature weather, the following technical measures are hereby proposed for reference:

1. Seize the time to reinforce flower greenhouses. Measures such as reinforcing upright poles and adding supports should be taken promptly to increase the pressure resistance of the greenhouse structure.

2. Promptly clear the snow accumulated on greenhouse roofs. According to local weather forecasts and snowfall conditions, promptly clear the snow on greenhouse roofs to reduce snow pressure and preserve the greenhouse structure.

3. Covering protection. For seedlings that are not cold-tolerant, it is best to cover them with a layer of shade netting where conditions permit; rice straw can also be used as a cover to reduce the direct impact of cold wind on the tender shoots of seedlings.

4. Irrigation for freeze protection. Irrigate once before the cold wave arrives, which can stabilize the ground temperature, supply water to seedlings during the winter, and effectively prevent dry freezing; post-freeze irrigation should be carried out at noon on a sunny day, so that the frozen and raised surface soil layer settles down, ensuring close contact between the seedling roots and the soil.

5. Post-disaster self-rescue measures.

1. For damaged flower greenhouses, promptly repair and reinforce the greenhouse framework and greenhouse film, immediately clear the snow, reduce pressure on the greenhouse structure, increase the light transmittance of the film, and raise the greenhouse temperature.

2. On the premise of ensuring personal safety, shake off snow and remove ice and snow from some valuable seedlings.

3. After the temperature rises and the snow melts, promptly dredge ditches and channels, drain accumulated water as soon as possible, and try to lower the groundwater level.
