Taiwan, China onions need people to come to the rescue! Supermarkets only sell imported onions, so where do you go to buy fresh domestic onions?

Domestic onions are in season, so go to traditional markets and selected supermarkets to support farmers! Onions are being harvested in central Taiwan, China, and the low farm-gate purchase price has farmers in tears. The wholesale price at the Changhua onion production area is less than 10 yuan per kilogram, and the farm-gate price in the Yunlin-Chiayi area has shown no improvement either, leaving farmers to worry as they look at their onions. Yet walking into large supermarkets such as PX Mart, no local fresh onions can be seen, only imported onions with huge special-offer signs.

Domestic onion wholesalers say that from last year to this year the pandemic has affected the whole world, and overseas onion consumption fell, creating stockpiles, which were then sold off cheaply and imported in large quantities, leading to the strange phenomenon of "domestic onions being in season yet nowhere to buy them."

The Dacheng Farmers' Association and the Shengang Farmers' Association say consumers should go to traditional markets more often to support local onions, and can also call the farmers' associations directly for group buying. Please call the Dacheng Farmers' Association at 04-8944565; a box of onions, 20 Taiwan jin, costs only 350 yuan including shipping.
